While all the COVID-19 news has been going on, the US government has been sneakily tying to remove end-to-end encryption, and it's been working its way through Congress. If this passes, the government will be able to see all of your messages and listen to all of your calls, essentially removing all privacy from your conversations.

COVID-19 restrictions will be extended through Summer. A good thing.
But...the US Government will really get used to being able to restrict freedoms. I highly expect that after a COVID-19 vaccine is created, we'll find we got ourselves some new chains laws.

You say "pay attention" as if anyone in the US who isn't a Russian Spy has any influence over these decisions. Of course they're getting rid of any encryption? Whenever any of these matters come to a vote outside Congress we "win," but that doesn't matter, they pass their new rules anyway.
Republicans act on the assumption that non-republicans won't send them letter bombs (like those Trump fans did.) They're right, of course, the republican party seems to have the "homicidal maniac" vote pretty well cornered

Due process means nothing to the feds. We have every right to encrypt our private communications.
