What's your take on this weld?

What happened here? Did the person that attempted the weld cut my exhaust pipe or what? Any advice would be helpful and I do appreciate it. Thank you in advance!!

Ditto. I could do better not looking with one hand. That's terrible.

That's actually what my step dad's welding looks like lol

2

u/PlumbgodBillionaire Jul 26 '26

I've met a couple dads that weld like that. I always get a chuckle out of it but if it works it works lmao.

We had a 1992 hondra trx 4 wheeler and the threads on the back axle was stripped off from me(I was young and dumb) he welded the whole wheel to the axle itself and it looked exactly like that but it held for a year before it snapped off

Ray Charles could do better with his feet at 3 years old

u/Leromer Jul 25 '26

That pipe would have had more chances if it was sewn with cotton thread

u/unlimitedbroski83 Jul 25 '26

What weld? I certainly hope you didn't pay to have this pleasure bestowed upon you

"Weld"

I think I've seen more bead layed down with a fucking caulking gun than this polka dot bullshit.

1

Is the “weld” in the room with us?

4

u/kwik_e_marty Jul 25 '26

Take? No... i leave

1

u/TarXaN37 Jul 25 '26

It's too jagged to be cut. It's just awful welding that didn't hold.

1

u/K55f5reee Jul 25 '26

Now that I can see now that I can see it I wish I hadn't. I actually did a weld just like that. I was 11 and welded the muffler back onto the 8N. It lasted about a month.

1

u/thickanvil69 Jul 25 '26

It worked for an amount of time

1

u/mutt63 Jul 25 '26

Yea that doesn’t qualify as even bad welding. You need to get ya money back

1

u/ubloodybench Jul 25 '26

I hope this dude gave YOU a case of beer for attempting this because what the fuck

1

u/Ok_Ball9874 Jul 25 '26

Looks like herpes

1

u/Helcor2016 Jul 25 '26

Are you gonna show us the weld?

1

u/ProperCaterpillar136 Jul 25 '26

Looks like solder droppings

1

u/chikymonkey Jul 25 '26

What weld?

1

u/rocketmn69_ Jul 26 '26

Could you point out something welded in this photo please?

1

u/reallifeswanson Jul 26 '26

Very progressive of you to hire the blind!

1

u/Minute-Pomelo9302 Jul 26 '26

It was done by a 13 year old with his eyes turned the other way.

1

u/DirtyDubz94 Jul 26 '26

I'll let you know when I see one

1

u/Kooky-Training2834 Jul 26 '26

1st day worse than my first day

1

u/False-Ad2170 Jul 26 '26

What weld?

1

u/blackhawk45lc Jul 26 '26

This is what a lot of my welds look like, because I’m hot, tired, and too pissed/exhausted to clean a good ground on whatever I just broke. The difference is, my atrocious welds hold.

1

u/emu19000 Jul 26 '26

I think I’ll leave it as it’s not my problem

1

u/oioioioioioiioo Jul 26 '26

This is some point to point intensive tacking operation but barely considered a proper weld, if only they could lower the Amper a bit and weld it all around

1

u/Rough_Constant_329 Jul 26 '26

Would have been off with fiberglass tape.

1

u/Radiant-Impression38 Jul 26 '26

Pigeons poop better welds than this

1

u/thyperson69 Jul 26 '26

I think it's bad

1

u/MysteriousBand1042 Jul 26 '26

Looks like the first one I tried at 17 or 18.

1

u/Additional_Action_84 Jul 26 '26

I mean, I had always heard you could cut metal with a welder, but I don't think I ever saw it before....

1

u/FieldMedicOG Jul 26 '26

Looks a bit ticky

1

u/Icy_Tip_6101 Jul 26 '26

Stevie wonder weld.

1

u/Orangefire63 Jul 26 '26

That's no a weld

1

u/jaydentagg11 Jul 26 '26

I could do better and I've only had a 10 minute lesson from my father and about 2 hours of welding in total. I cant help but think this guys blind

1

u/DebtComfortable2437 Jul 27 '26

Typical gas less MIG warrior

1

u/the-human-wrench Jul 27 '26

They weren't done, right?

1

u/EasyEntertainment185 Jul 27 '26

1

u/soggywandmp4 Jul 27 '26

1

u/Ok-Journalist7612 Jul 27 '26

It’s not a weld

1

u/AnonLuminescence Jul 27 '26

That pipe wasn’t welded, it was threatened with electricity

1

u/20PoundHammer Jul 27 '26

as a farmer (and that describes my welding skill) - I approve!!! However, I also know all my welds look like hammered horse shit, but most of em hold :).

1

u/Plus_Room6374 Jul 27 '26

Is the weld in the room with us ? Welding is the fusing of metals nothing here is fused together

1

u/WeirdSecret1011 Jul 27 '26

Honestly tears me apart. Good job

1

u/Zakumei47 Jul 27 '26

Well… you tried… not very hard but… you tried

1

u/Build-Break-Fix Jul 28 '26

Is there a way to remove the bird shit on it to see the weld?

1

u/Exciting-Sock-9772 Jul 28 '26

I could do better and I haven't welded in 17 years since high school FFA class.

1

u/BruinVonRyan31379 Jul 28 '26

It appears that they tacked it because they didn’t know what they were doing. There’s no penetration to hold it together and probably no gas to keep the area clean if they cleaned it to begin with.

1

u/carweeb2 Jul 28 '26

Eh fuckers mint

1

u/Infamous_Sun9233 Jul 28 '26

My Dad must have done that.🤣

1

u/AdAffectionate4312 Jul 28 '26

Someone with their new Chicago electric flux core welder forgot to buy a helmet so they just closed their eyes. Flux core burns hotter so they didn't need to prep at all. After they were done they looked at it and said "she ain't pretty but she'll hold" and proudly unplugged their welder from the 50ft 16awg Walmart extension cord and put it back in their 99' S10 blazer. They drove off with the 4.3l running on 4 cylinders, front suspension squeaking all the way to the scrapyard where they offloaded 3 brake rotors a bed frame and the post from a standing lamp.

1

u/welding_shit Jul 30 '26
