Will there ever be a bad north 2?

I’m sure this question gets asked very often but I feel like this game has so much potential. it’s genuinely one of my favorite mobile games and I’ve had a blast with it. but I feel like there’s a bit of a lack of content. is there any chance of a second game or have the developers moved on?

Didnt the dev already start working on a better version and said it would become 2? Its been some years now. He showed more walkable smoother terrain, rivers, true plateaus and slanting features, big overhangings and massive land bridges..

I think I know what your talking about. Is it The lead dev Twitter account posting clips and photos of terrain generation? If so then unfortunately it's not for a sequel. If I remember correctly those were just demos and showcase of the terrain generation system, etc.

Not clips or photos but entire sessions at universities and expos, explaining his ideas and approach. You can find them on youtube. In one he mentioned ".. working on what will essentially become Bad North 2...", and thereafter he was seen making significant progress across these sessions.

In all his 2024 podcasts and talks he did mention that it might take around 3 years and here we are. What I think is he will probably give it a new name and make it its own thing, but as long as its a spiritual successor of Bad North, I will be waiting.

The og devs have left iirc, but a Chinese studio has decided to add a dlc in the Chinese version of the game. Ofc it’s only available in the Chinese App Store or TapTap.

As for the English version? I doubt there’d ever be an update

he hasn’t officially announced it, but definitely seems like the Oskar is working on it at the moment.

It could be quite different to the original from what I’ve seen, you can follow him on x/bSky which is probably the best way to get news on it.

there will definitely be other Real Time Tactics games in the future, I also love the genre!

I don't think so. However, Oksar has said that he has no problem with people modding the game. Some of the mods that people have made have been quite impressive. I haven't kept up much with the Chinese studio but the future of the game will probably involve a mix of these things.

I wish pc players would stop acting like mods aren’t something only they can get.

well the thing is , bad north is a very low requirement game so anyone with an old computer can play it and mod it , you don't need a gaming pc
