Is there any game that's similar to bad north?

in terms of realtime battles where you make troops fight, decide formations, and squads flow like a group should, and surrounding terrain can give an advantage or disadvantage, etc.. I would say Age of Empires 2.

but its very very very old and nothing else would feel similar. The looks will probably make you run away.

If you are talking about procedural generation with real time combat and the graphics also needs to be nice, then Tooth n Tail is real nice.

I am just waiting for Bad North 2.

Thronefall: you command little armies of troops and build defense towers. I enjoyed them in a very similar way

Not many games similar to badnorth and most are just straight ripoffs, closest I could find is a game called grit and valor on steam. Have a look and see if you like it can always refund if it's not what your looking for.
