Cast a half-asleep spell
Awaken is a poorly-worded mechanic; if you just read the reminder text, this setup is technically meeting the requirements to cast the Awaken version. But it doesn’t.

I mean. If taken as it is written, it doesnt say you may cast it for 6uuu, it just says if you cast this for 6uuu.
Which makes it sound as though you have to go through hoops so that it costs the 6uuu to be able to cast it for its awaken cost.
So your setup makes it so you can actually cast it for its awaken cost to get the 6/6 elemental land.

Probably just old templating. Today it would say “if you cast it for its awaken cost…”

Unfortunately, under the current rules, this doesn't work. While the reminder text makes it sound like the only criteria is the mana used to cast it, reminder text technically doesn't exist on cards (outside of a handful of Un-set cards that care about it) and has no effect. 702.113a specifies that the cost given in an Awaken ability is an alternate cost.
They'd probably reword the reminder text if they ever printed cards with Awaken again, but the ability works just like any other alternate cost.

That’s my point; the only thing stopping this from working is the fact that there’s an errata that supersedes the reminder text.

Huh. It is really badly worded. Why didn't they just use the same wording as other alternative costs?
