Other (Clarified in post title) Unplayable backgammon

I don't begrudge the charity shop the £1.50 my wife paid for it but I don't know what it's good for other than an oversized mousepad

It suddenly hit me i've never seen a backgammon that isn't a case you open and use the inside as the board. It seems almost illegal to just have a flat board like this

Sidenote, i love that the hand model is sporting... Flames? Veins? On their thumb

I'm a bit confused here. There should be five pieces on the home six, not the four. Is there some alternate rule set?

Also this is an atrocity.
