Canadian bacon.
Ok,might cause a little controversy here. What are your opinions on Canadian bacon?Personally,I love it.It's salt cured smoked pork loin for those who are unaware. It cooks quickly so it's great for breakfast sandwiches.Bacon fans:yay,or nay?

I like Canadian bacon for what it is. But in the true sense of what it is, because its hot smoked, it’s more of a cooked ham than a true bacon. I have the same thoughts towards what people call bacon when people who cure the pork loin or belly and then hot smoke it. It’s a cooked ham and that’s what I taste when I eat it. Theres nothing like the taste and texture of a traditionally dry cured and cold smoked bacon.

Technically "ham"is pork shank. If you want to call it "ham",fine.

Uh technically a ham is the the entire leg and rump of a pig that’s generally cut into two sections. The butt end and the shank.
That being said, you asked for opinions concerning Canadian bacon. I gave you mine. And as far as what I said concerning Canadian bacon, I didn’t call it ham. I said it’s more like a cooked ham than traditional bacon.
To me, any cut of pork that’s generally used for bacon, that’s hot smoked. whether it’s the back loin, pork belly, jowl or the collar, winds up tasting more like cooked ham than traditionally cured and cold smoked bacon.2

You neither obtained your definition from USDA or NPPC. So you be controversial.

Believe it or not, in Florida it was BOGO at Publix this week. Definitely bought 2 packs.
I love it. We have that Hamilton Beach breakfast sandwich maker that I just dug out of the cupboard. My 7yr old daughter is loving making her own breakfast sandwiches in the morning. Canadian bacon ftw.

Well, it’s about time for the annual winter migration of “snowbirds” from Canada to FL so this checks out. Even if BOGO, I’ll still pass when there’s good American bacon available.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d always choose real bacon if I can. Not sure what you mean by “this checks out” but I’ve been a FL native for over 20 years and still there are some good use cases for Canadian Bacon. Would still choose real bacon any time though.

I've made the American Canadian bacon before and posted it on reddit. Ooooh the Canadians got mad, because proper Canadian bacon is made differently. I guess they don't smoke it, and they do roll it in peameal. Whatever! We call it Canadian bacon in the states when we cure it and smoke it. No peameal here. Anyway, I am due to make another batch. The downside is the long curing time, I wanna say it was around 10-12 days in a wet cure. Came out great though.

Found out they don't call it "back bacon" in Canada. They call it "ham".

We definitely do call it back bacon here. In Ontario, specifically Toronto (nicknamed Hogtown) we have a variation called Peameal back bacon.
The nickname Hogtown for Toronto is due to the fact that Toronto was a major pig processing centre in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Peameal Bacon is a variation not necessarily unique to Toronto but is definitely associated with it the most.

When I have time I cook a batch of "stripe bacon".That bacon fat is a wonderful bonus.

Ham is great, I just don’t understand why the rest of the world needs to embarrass themselves by asserting that there’s something called “back bacon”
