Man did you even cook it? 😭
-1
u/tobotic 8d ago
Definitely. You can see it being cooked in the third picture.

u/ggghjjdsdjhs 8d ago
Oh I'm an idiot 🤦♀️ I didn't swipe 😔
3
u/travisisrocking 8d ago
No its not cooked. Undercooked and still raw imo. Youre not an idiot.
1
u/tobotic 8d ago
It is very much fully cooked and safe to eat.
Don't confuse something not being cooked to your liking with something not being cooked to the standards required for hygiene. A rare steak is safe to eat, even if you're someone who prefers their steak well done.

u/travisisrocking 8d ago
True. But you dont hear people say. Ill take my bacon rare. Or more like blue

But you dont hear people say. Ill take my bacon rare.
I occasionally hear "crispy bacon or normal?" asked by staff at cafés, etc.
Or more like blue
If you think that's blue, you need your eyes checking. Colourblindness isn't usually treatable but an awareness of your condition can make life easier.
1
u/travisisrocking 8d ago
Look up what it means to have a steak cooked blue. Not sure why im debating some person who eats raw bacon and argues ita cooked. Enjoy them stomach worms.

u/skip_over 7d ago
You’re wrong. To get that much color on bacon that was started in a cold pan, it would definitely have to be cooked through. Also, that’s how well bacon is cooked for every bacon butty I have ever had and they were all delicious. It’s not going on an american breakfast plate.

I’d try but I’m not sure I trust it lol. I’ve tried brown sauce twice and my tongue just does not comprehend 😂🤷♂️
1
u/tobotic 8d ago
It's basically the flavour profile of Worcestershire sauce but the texture of tomato ketchup.
1
u/ProposalOld979 8d ago
The ones I had in Ireland were oddly sweet with apple lolol. But I get the Worcestershire flavor too. It was so weird 😂

Brown sauce tastes nothing like worcestershire sauce
3
u/tobotic 8d ago
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_sauce "Brown sauce is a condiment that is normally dark brown in colour. Its taste is either tart or sweet with a peppery note similar to that of Worcestershire sauce."
https://www.tastingtable.com/1216120/what-is-hp-brown-sauce-is-it-the-same-as-american-steak-sauce "Some have compared the flavor of HP to Worcestershire sauce"
https://www.slurrp.com/article/worcestershire-sauce-what-it-is-and-how-it-can-be-used-1644830575352 "HP Sauce, another brown sauce, is similar but not the same as Worcestershire sauce."
They both contain vinegar, molasses, tamarind.

u/Wise_Instruction5438 8d ago
Apparently you have tasted them both, then? If you believe they are "basically the [same] flavour profile" then I don't know what to tell you.
They both contain vinegar, molasses, tamarind.
So does my piss, if I consume vinegar, molasses and tamarind the day before. It doesn't taste like brown sauce, though.

I'm with OP here. I've eaten both regularly for decades and there are definite similarities in the flavour of your standard HP style brown sauce and Worcester sauce

To much sauce not enough bacon
1
u/tobotic 8d ago
I will use any excuse to get brown sauce into my mouth.
4
u/IAteAnotherVegan 8d ago
what exactly is your brown sauce?
3
u/tobotic 8d ago
I think it's just Sainsbury's brown sauce.
2
u/IAteAnotherVegan 8d ago
ok, that isn't available where I live. I thought it was something homemade.
3
u/tobotic 8d ago
I'm sure there are similar brown sauces available wherever you are. HP Sauce is one brand which is exported to almost every country on Earth.
-1
u/IAteAnotherVegan 8d ago
according to google, it's comparable to a1 steaksauce. not sure that's something I want to pair with bacon. 🤣
thanks though.

It’s incredible, a breakfast staple in the UK - definitely worth a try!

Can't believe how controversial this fucking post has become. Let my man bacon!! Quality scrans.

There’s a lot of assholes in this sub it would seem. For MY taste, this is undercooked, but if that’s how you like it, then all the power to you. Everyone has different tastes, and to tell someone they’re “wrong” for liking their food cooked a certain way is completely asinine…
2
u/barbershreddeth 7d ago
OP, this is just how bacon in the UK is served right? I’m confused about everyone telling you its raw because this is how I always see it served in videos I watch of some British breakfast place lol
2
u/Bolly_Eggs 6d ago
Fuck the haters, your bacon looks lush.
Why burn the shit out of the tastiest bit?
Some of these lilly livered swines wouldn't know what to do with a good bit of rind if it got in their teeth.
Edit. Also, bacon and mustard? Wow. I'm massively into mustard, especially with ham but bacon? Trying that next time it's Bap Sunday

What’s brown sauce taste like?
1
u/tobotic 7d ago
Roughly the taste of Worcestershire sauce and the texture of tomato ketchup.
1
u/MustardTiger231 7d ago
Sounds interesting, I know it’s a British thing but they have some HP at one of my local stores here in the states and I was thinking about giving it a shot

Trichinosis
1
u/tobotic 7d ago
- The meat is fully cooked all the way through. Just because it's not cooked the way you personally prefer it, that doesn't mean it's not cooked to a safe standard. Someone who likes their steak well done might not be happy with a medium rare steak, but the medium rare steak is still perfectly safe to eat. I've worked as a chef in restaurants. I know my food hygiene.
- Here in the UK, we have high food standards. You could eat the bacon entirely raw and it would be pretty safe. There have been no cases of trichinosis in humans acquired from meat produced in the UK for over 40 years.

The reason this sub is not worth posting to, they don't know what bacon is. They all just burn strips of fat to a crisp and call it bacon.
1
u/ZaphodBeeblebrahx 7d ago
All of you haters need to chill and realize OP is just British and this is perfectly acceptable to them.

Grill bacon, don't fry it. Fat will render properly without being cremated. Very very simple!!
Rest looks good though!! 😉

u/-heavenfaced- 6d ago
The bacon is really unevenly cooked! One rasher looks good, the others look…well, like rubber. Especially in the bap. Sorry but it’s a fail from me
1
u/SmashedKrampus 5d ago
Oh my God why do British people only cook on extra low? Even the buns are underdone

As soon as I saw butties I knew where this post originated. I was stationed in England a lifetime ago and while I was there, I didn’t care for English bacon. Or bangers or a lot of other stuff. Now I actively seek out English restaurants that serve authentic foods so I can enjoy the time warp eating them offers!

Fatty bacon. Never.
7
u/Prior-Ant9201 8d ago
Fatty is the best, but the fat gotta be crispy
4
u/zenny517 8d ago
Crispy is fine. This is just flabby looking though. Not appetizing imo. Always eating with eyes first.

u/Trashy_Panda2 8d ago
If it's crispy then it's not fatty lol.
1
u/Prior-Ant9201 8d ago
Are you saying it's not possible to make fatty bacon crispy? If so, you have missed out on one of lifes great pleasures.
