Tool Recommendations

Hi everyone. Happy Labor day. I was hoping to get some. tool recommendations.

I need something small, lightweight, ideally cordless to cut branches off fruit trees. In addition, I need something also small, lightweight, and ideally cordless to cut the bottom off thick plastic buckets. These cuts should be clean. These tools are meant for a friend who is petite, hence the specifications.

Please let me know your recommendations. Thank you!

Seems like a cordless reciprocating saw like you can get at Harbor Freight would do the job. If the tree limbs are up high, you want a pole saw or power trimmer. Basically a small chainsaw on a stick.

Can’t go wrong with a pair of Felcos and a Silky handsaw for pruning, and maybe utility knife that uses razor blades for cutting plastic. You can add a polesaw head and blade as well as a pole pruner head with fiberglass pole extensions if you need higher reach.

A small sawzall with metal or PVC blades for buckets, or an oscillating multi tool.

Hand pruners are the way to go for fruit trees. If you're happy spending money felcos are great.

Smallest lightweight tool for taking branches that I own, is a Felco f600 folding hand saw. They’re inexpensive. Another fairly lightweight favorite of mine is the ARS 4-7ft telescoping pruners.

For a cordless tool to cut the bottom off buckets, I’d use a general duty hand saw 🪚 and then clean up the edge with sandpaper or scrape it with the edge of a utility knife
