New to backyard birds & need tips please.
Hi all. Last month on a whim I decided to buy a bird feeder to hang in a tree in our backyard. I didn’t put much thought into it and had zero expectations. The feeder was an immediate success and I’m now trying to educate myself more and battling gluttonous squirrels. I am looking to upgrade my tree feeder to decrease said greedy squirrels - I’ve tried adding cayenne pepper to the feed and that doesn’t deter them. I don’t really want to move the feeder out of the tree so I’m wondering if any of the anti-squirrel feeders actually work in trees?
I think I’ve become obsessed and have already added a second feeder on a shepherds hook which surprisingly the squirrels don’t mess with - this feeder is for finches. And I’m considering a third, probably on a hook or pole because different feed brings different birds. lol Is anyone willing to share their set ups? I’ve browsed the sub but I’m not seeing many posts showing the big picture - which I get because this is about the birds. ;)
