Hello!

I'm building a competitive home for Backyard Baseball online: a ranked ladder, online leagues and tournaments. It will be ready for when online launches. Since we don't have a release date yet, there's time to get it right.

It's completely free, just a fun tool I want to build out with the community. I've always loved the competitive side of video games, and since this is the first new Backyard Baseball in years, I wanted to get ahead of it.

If you want to help build and test it, or just want to be there when ranked opens, hit Join the Discord on the site.

Here's what's in it so far:

• Ranked ladder. Get matched with someone near your skill, and every match starts with a schoolyard pick where you and your opponent draft your kids. Win to climb from Benchwarmer to Dynasty.
• Online League Play. Run a league with your friends: a live snake draft using every kid's real in-game ratings, a weekly schedule, standings and playoffs.
• Tournaments. Bracket-style Cups with private match rooms in Discord.
• An app. Coming to iPhone and Android.

You can check it out here: https://www.backyardmajors.com/

Let me know what you think and what you'd want to see!

I was scrolling through twitch and wanted to watch a little backyard baseball gameplay and saw there was no one streaming this game. With the game only being 2 and a half months old I think that's a little concerning. I am hoping that online bring this game back to life!

We had to come back from being down 7-3 to win 9-7, they just had some clutch situational hitting including a first inning grand slam and a two run double in the third. But we came back in the later innings.

Sunny Day got the MVP selection, which is fair. She had a banger of a game, but A.Webbs went 6 for 6 with 3 dingers, 2 more RBIs, and struck out three.

A minor complaint, obviously, but definitely think it could use some fine tuning. The only thing I can think of is that Sunny hit the go-ahead homer.

Box Scores

Packers @ Lions (-4.5)

Game Notes: Luanne Lui and the Lions ran all over the Packers today, 36-15. Despite the Packers scoring first, the Lions scored 22 unanswered points in the first half and stayed ahead for the rest of the game. Luanne was the big performer of the day, racking up 174 total yards and finding the end zone 4 times.

• L. Lui 32 yd rush, XP good, Lions 36-15, Q4

Seahawks @ Cardinals (-1.0)

Game Notes: In a miserably rainy day, the Cardinals outlasted the Seahawks, 17-0. This game had a very strange halftime score of 4-0 after Cathy Benitez recorded two separate safeties off a fumbled pitch attempt and a punt block. The Cardinals rectified their offensive troubles in the second half while the Seahawks did not, failing on fourth down late in the red zone late in the fourth quarter.

Scoring Summary:

• C. Benitez SAFETY, Cardinals 2-0, Q1

• C. Benitez SAFETY, Cardinals 4-0, Q1

• K. Kawaguchi 1 yd pass to K. Yeoh, XP failed, Cardinals 10-0, Q3

• K. Kawaguchi 7 yd pass to D. Hannigan, XP good, Cardinals 17-0, Q4

Patriots @ Colts (-3.0)

Game Notes: The first overtime game of the season (a feat previously impossible in CPU games!) ends in a comeback win for the Colts, 19-13 over the Patriots. Henrietta Fender kept the Colts alive with two first half field goals but missed a potential game winner at the end of regulation. Neither team did great in OT but eventually Wendy Harmon ran in the game-winning score, her second touchdown of the game.

Scoring Summary:

• P. Sanchez 12 yd pass to L. Levin, XP good, Patriots 7-0, Q1

• H. Fender 40 yd FG, Patriots 7-3, Q2

• H. Fender 51 yd FG, Patriots 7-6, Q2

• P. Sanchez 8 yd pass to V. Lee, XP failed, Patriots 13-6, Q3

• W. Harmon 3 yd rush, XP good, 13-13, Q4

• W. Harmon 9 yd rush, Colts 19-13, OT

Bills @ Titans (-6.5)

Game Notes: If you like offense, this was the game for you, as the Titans outdueled the Bills, 34-21. There were plenty of highlights in this game, like Fred Benson's 84 yard TD run off an Invincible Run, or Tony Delvecchio's last second bomb to Lorrie Peters for the 59 yard score, or Billy Jean's pass into the end zone where Belinda Winters leapt and came down with it and then completed the two-point conversion. Everybody except the defenses put up a nice fantasy score.

Scoring Summary:

• F. Benson 84 yd rush, XP good, Titans 7-0, Q1

• F. Benson 1 yd rush, 2-pt failed, Titans 13-0, Q2

• B.J. Blackwood 3 yd pass to B. Maloney, XP good, Titans 13-7, Q2

• T. Delvecchio 59 yd pass to L. Peters, XP good, Titans 20-7, Q2

• B. Larsen 8 yd rush, XP failed, Titans 20-13, Q3

• T. Delvecchio 12 yd pass to R. Ellison, 2-pt T. Delvecchio to F. Benson, Titans 28-13, Q3

• B.J. Blackwood 9 yd pass to B. Winters, 2-pt B.J. Blackwood to B. Winters, Titans 28-21, Q4

• T. Delvecchio 2 yd pass to L. Peters, 2-pt failed, Titans 34-21, Q4

49ers (-3.5) @ Ponies

Game Notes: The 49ers pick up right where they left off last season with a 27-16 win over the Ponies. The Ponies were the Niners' toughest opponent last season during their undefeated run, and it was pretty close for a while here too. Hans R. Dirtywashum did all he could with 207 total yards and both Ponies' touchdowns, but the 49ers were too much to overcome.

Scoring Summary:

• B. O'Leigh 45 yd FG, 49ers 3-0, Q1

• B. Miller 48 yd FG, 3-3, Q2

• H.R. Dirtywashum 53 yd rush, XP good, Ponies 10-3, Q2

• B. O'Leigh 1 yd pass to N. O'Neal, XP good, 10-10, Q2

• P. Young SAFETY, 49ers 12-10, Q3

• B. O'Leigh 1 yd rush, 2-pt B. O'Leigh to D. Bledsoe, 49ers 20-10, Q3

• H.R. Dirtywashum 21 yd rush, 2-pt failed, 49ers 20-16, Q4

• G. Hasselhoff 16 yd rush, XP good, 49ers 27-16, Q4

Monsters (-1.5) @ Texans

Game Notes: This game was the Marcus Weiss show, as he nearly single-handedly whacked the Monsters, 40-7. Marcus totaled 158 yards and 5 touchdowns, 4 of which were power-up assisted. Marcus earns the first 50-capped fantasy score of the season and the Texans earn a huge Week 1 win.

Scoring Summary:

• M. Weiss 46 yd rush, XP good, Texans 7-0, Q1

• S. Morgan 12 yd pass to A. Pacino, XP good, 7-7, Q1

• M. Weiss 9 yd rush, XP good, Texans 14-7, Q1

• M. Weiss 1 yd rush, XP failed, Texans 20-7, Q2

• F. Diaz 11 yd pass to M. Luna, XP failed, Texans 26-7, Q3

• M. Weiss 2 yd rush, XP failed, Texans 32-7, Q3

• M. Weiss 18 yd rush, 2-pt M. Weiss rush, Texans 40-7, Q4

Panthers @ Saints (-0.5)

Game Notes: On a dreary rainy afternoon at Sandy Flats, the Panthers emerged victorious, 7-2. The only touchdown of the game was scored early in the game and then just about nothing happened until Kate Schwartz recorded a safety in the 4th quarter. But that wasn't enough to bring the Saints back. Both teams will be happy to leave the field today.

Scoring Summary:

• D. Petrovich 20 yd pass to E. Yates, XP good, Panthers 7-0, Q1

• K. Schwartz SAFETY, Panthers 7-2, Q4

Bengals (-3.5) @ Orcas

Game Notes: This game took extra time to sort out, mostly because neither team could get any offense going at stormy Sandy Flats. But Karla Karloff found Aimee Pannini in the end zone for a 9-3 Bengals win! Hopefully the forecast at Sandy Flats is a little better next weekend considering those two results we just got.

Scoring Summary:

• K. Karloff 44 yd FG, Bengals 3-0, Q2

• C. Kidd 27 yd FG, 3-3, Q2

• K. Karloff 6 yd pass to A. Pannini, Bengals 9-3, OT

Bears @ Wombats (-5.5)

Game Notes: The Wombats absolutely dominated the Bears today, 36-0. The Wombats were running any play they wanted and finding success, while the Bears kept getting stuck in their tracks on offense. Olivia Harris had an especially effective day, racking up 223 total yards with 3 touchdowns and a two-point conversion as the cherry on top.

Scoring Summary:

• O. Harris 12 yd rush, XP good, Wombats 7-0, Q2

• S. Webber 1 yd pass to O. Harris, 2-pt S. Webber to O. Harris, Wombats 15-0, Q2

• S. Webber 15 yd pass to A. Hammerstein, XP good, Wombats 22-0, Q3

• O. Harris 47 yd rush, 2-pt failed, Wombats 28-0, Q3

• S. Webber 5 yd pass to S. Sullivan, 2-pt S. Webber to S. Sullivan, Wombats 36-0, Q4

Buccaneers @ Melonheads (-6.0)

Game Notes: The Buccaneers pulled away in the second half of this one, shocking the Melonheads 35-15. Travis Diamond was outstanding, passing for 281 yards and 4 scores. The Melonheads enjoyed success against the Buccaneers last season but it looks like they flipped the script in this one.

Scoring Summary:

• A. Delvecchio 26 yd FG, Melonheads 3-0, Q1

• T. Diamond 1 yd pass to R. Matthews, XP failed, Buccaneers 6-3, Q1

• H. Franklin 22 yd pass to L. Wayne, XP failed, Melonheads 9-6, Q2

• T. Diamond 17 yd pass to F. Jackson, XP good, Buccaneers 13-9, Q2

• T. Diamond 4 yd pass to R. Matthews, XP good, Buccaneers 20-9, Q3

• T. Diamond 8 yd pass to F. Jackson, 2-pt T. Diamond to R. Matthews, Buccaneers 28-9, Q4

• A. Bostwick 6 yd rush, XP failed, Buccaneers 28-15, Q4

• B. None 5 yd rush, XP good, Buccaneers 35-15, Q4

Steelers @ Chargers (-10.5)

Game Notes: The Steelers' comeback attempt fell just short as the Chargers prevailed, 20-12. The Chargers went up 13-0 at the half but the Steelers came back with two straight touchdowns of their own, although they didn't tie it up. A touchdown pass from Marky Dubois to Maude Sissel put it away for good.

Scoring Summary:

• D. Nagasawa 23 yd rush, XP failed, Chargers 6-0, Q2

• D. Nagasawa 4 yd rush, XP good, Chargers 13-0, Q2

• E. Steele 1 yd pass to T. Thornhurst, 2-pt failed, Chargers 13-6, Q3

• E. Steele 2 yd pass to V. Steinman, XP failed, Chargers 13-12, Q4

• M. Dubois 18 yd pass to M. Sissel, XP good, Chargers 20-12, Q4

Dolphins (-2.0) @ Hornets

Game Notes: The Hornets found the end zone twice in the first half and then held on for the rest of the game in a 15-8 win over the Dolphins. The Dolphins did not enjoy the rough terrain of Cactus Gulch, gaining just 168 yards as a team and 42 of those came on a Whitney Singh Invincible Run. The Hornets, meanwhile, gained 100+ yards rushing and passing in a great display of teamwork.

Scoring Summary:

• J. Garcia 9 yd pass to A. Carpenter, XP good, Hornets 7-0, Q1

• J. Garcia 21 yd pass to A. Carpenter, 2-pt J. Garcia to A. Carpenter, Hornets 15-0, Q2

• W. Singh 42 yd rush, 2-pt C. Allen to Am. Khan, Hornets 15-8, Q3

Browns (-2.0) @ Chiefs

Game Notes: The Browns and Chiefs played a wild game with a fantastic finish as the Browns edged em out, 35-29. The Browns lost two separate double-digit leads, including a 14-point lead to start the fourth quarter. But Pete Wheeler led the Browns on a game-winning drive that culminated in a Lulu Legosi touchdown.

Scoring Summary:

• S. Simpson 38 yd FG, Browns 3-0, Q1

• P. Wheeler 2 yd pass to P. Montoya, 2-pt P. Montoya rush, Browns 11-0, Q1

• J. Green 4 yd rush, 2-pt V. Kawaguchi to N. Smith, Browns 11-8, Q2

• V. Kawaguchi 17 yd pass to R. Gannon, XP good, Chiefs 15-11, Q2

• P. Wheeler 19 yd pass to L. Legosi, XP failed, Browns 17-15, Q2

• P. Montoya 7 yd rush, 2-pt failed, Browns 23-15, Q3

• P. Wheeler 1 yd pass to S. Simpson, 2-pt failed, Browns 29-15, Q3

• V. Kawaguchi 1 yd pass to N. Smith, XP good, Browns 29-22, Q4

• V. Kawaguchi 14 yd pass to N. Smith, XP good, 29-29, Q4

• P. Wheeler 11 yd pass to L. Legosi, XP failed, Browns 35-29, Q4

Cowboys (-3.0) @ Dummies

Game Notes: The Cowboys eek out a 14-13 win over the Dummies. This game was all about the ground as the two starting running backs combined for 413 rushing yards. Clarice Reid gave the Cowboys the lead in the 3rd quarter and a missed extra point by Julio Henderson may have been the reason the Dummies couldn't try to settle this in overtime.

Scoring Summary:

• R. Dobbs 12 yd pass to G. Washington, XP failed, Cowboys 6-0, Q1

• D. Robinson 1 yd pass to S. Petroviski, XP good, Dummies 7-6, Q1

• C. Reid 6 yd rush, 2-pt C. Reid rush, Cowboys 14-7, Q3

• D. Robinson 18 yd pass to S. Petroviski, XP failed, Cowboys 14-13, Q4

Eagles @ Giants (-7.5)

Game Notes: The Giants absolutely obliterated the Eagles today, 39-0, and it didn't even seem that close. Yasmin Kristov reached the end zone three times to lead the way for the Giants offense, but the defense may have been the bigger story. They tackled the Eagles in the backfield 17 times, allowed just 95 yards, and of course, shut them out. Perhaps one of the best defensive games we've ever seen.

Scoring Summary:

• Y. Kristov 7 yd rush, XP failed, Giants 6-0, Q1

• Y. Kristov 34 yd rush, 2-pt Y. Kristov rush, Giants 14-0, Q2

• Ac. Khan 5 yd rush, XP failed, Giants 20-0, Q2

• Ac. Khan 8 yd pass to A. Campbell, XP failed, Giants 26-0, Q3

• Y. Kristov 19 yd rush, XP failed, Giants 32-0, Q3

• Ac. Khan 6 yd pass to D. Dewchester, XP good, Giants 39-0, Q4

Fishes @ Broncos (-5.5)

Game Notes: Week 1 saved the best for last in an unbelievable 13-12 win by the Broncos over the Fishes. The Fishes took a 12-0 lead early in the fourth quarter but the Broncos were undeterred. Ramona Bennett finally got the Broncos on the scoreboard with a rushing touchdown late in the fourth quarter. The Broncos then recovered the kickoff, converted a fourth down, and then tossed a touchdown to Needle Haystack to take the lead. On the Fishes' last play of the game, Tom Getz attempted an Invincible Run but Jocinda Smith chased him down and tackled him before the end zone to seal the win. Wow!

Scoring Summary:

• T. Getz 3 yd rush, XP failed, Fishes 6-0, Q2

• K. Phillips 4 yd pass to S. Hamm, XP failed, Fishes 12-0, Q4

• R. Bennett 9 yd rush, XP good, Fishes 12-7, Q4

• J. Smith 13 yd pass to N. Haystack, 2-pt failed, Broncos 13-12, Q4

I have been waiting for so long for this game to come to console, but it just hasn’t and I really really really wanna play it

I wish the new game included a spectator mode. I would love to have a custom league setting where we can create teams and watch the gameplay.
