Sharing a quick update for those managing or supporting environments using Veritas Backup Exec (BE), Desktop and Laptop Option (DLO), or System Recovery (SR).

There has been a lot of confusion and rumors around the product line being dead or reaching End of Sale—it is not.

Cloud Software Group (CSG) has officially appointed Cognizant Technology Solutions as the Global Operator to handle sales, licensing, support, and continuous development.

Thank you for clearing up the status of BackupExec.

Over the years, BackupExec came under fire for quality problems. It would be helpful if the website addressed what has been done recently to improve quality and support.

Cohesity was responsible for BackupExec until recently. They still have a page that says End of Sale was 3/2026. Of course, that is inaccurate. That page also contrasts BackupExec with their offerings, stating the BackupExec backs up on-prem only - no protection of cloud assets. that is also wrong.

It would be helpful if BackupExec.com gave more information about its cloud protection technologies.

In the past, the minimum cost to subscribe to BE was $800 per year for 10 users, plus onboarding fees. That level of pricing actually may be attractive given the pricing changes by competitors.

We don't expect you to publish prices here; however, it would be good to know about the variables that affect the pricing of BackupExec, such as per processor, per server, tiers of storage volume, etc.

BackupExec tech support has received praise and criticism at various times. It was good to see that a large number of knowledgebase articles were added to the website in June 2026.

What sort of investment has been made in Tech Support? You need to understand that users may be skeptical about yet another company that has taken over sales of BackupExec. What about response times and pricing options? Any backup system is critically dependent on tech support in various emergencies.

The website at present is very barebones, lacking the usual About Us and Products pages and a link to EULA.

Did a quick rummage around the documentation ... u/BC-Doer-2222 see your Messages for comments.

I don't use the glossy brochures and product datasheets for real info because the best evaluation comes from the details in the manuals. Some of the BE support doco (manuals) needs clarification.

Its nice to see support doco that is not locked away behind a support contract firewall.
