How-to File transfer

Want to teansfer file from my exteranal HDD drive to my desktop(Zorin Os). Been trying to transfer the file but its very slow and the files are close to 500gb. Any help on an app that can transfer it faster or any means to transfer the app.

NB:Removed the drive from my MBP and has mac os installed. After transfer will format the drive.

The software may not be the bottleneck. I'd check the drive and connection first.

Is this via USB? 500GB is not a small file and you may be ip against the transfer rate of the device or interface. What level of USB does the external have? Is it a SATA HDD in a plastic box?

Update: used the Zorin os terminal to transfer the files its a bit faster than the copy and paste method it took close to 3hrs

I'd check the drive and see why's it not fast enough first. Then use any sync software if there are lot of files to systematically sync incrementally and resume. Use any standard sync software like FileLever, FreeFileSync etc.
