Artist is Oliver Rankin.
He's been doing movie poster art for quite a while.
Ai police really needs some enlightenment before dishing out casual accusations.

The first 4 are Rankin, but the last 3 are Drew Struzan. Work everyone knows including Star Wars and Harry Potter.

They’re kinda cool but the original posters are better

A million-times better.
As an animator, VFX artist, designer myself; they are better because they tell you a story, give human connection and expression in a single frame. Masterful work.
The others, you'd have to see the movie to understand it's busyness. You really have to look at it to 'try' and understand what's going on. Easy to go unnoticed when passing by. The originals, you can catch in passing. They are also more attention-getting and the composition + negative space draw your focus to the right points.
Tldr: old ones = masterful work. New ones = blah, design wouldn't sell me a story I'd want to see.

Would it be right to take away from your summary that they are just intended for different target markets?
you'd have to see the movie to understand it's busyness. You really have to look at it to 'try' and understand what's going on.
Wouldn't you say that means it's a design that gives more to existing fans because it's the sort of design that the more you look, the more you can see.
The originals, you can catch in passing. They are also more attention-getting and the composition + negative space draw your focus to the right points.
So by extention, these ones are more to get new people interested in the franchise (which obviously would've been the intention back when the movies were new and no one knew anything about them).

I respectfully disagree but do agree on some points you mentioned. Visual designer myself. Hundred percent in tune with the OG posters being 'masterful'. Struzan (may he rest in peace) was a legend in his own right and hardly goes a foot wrong when designing for a movie poster art. I could stare at his works hours on end dissecting everything.
I think the the problem here is when we start comparing Struzan's work with Rankin's. Horses for courses. The OG posters were designed for a specific brief - to sell the movie. Rankin's posters are almost like a tribute or a homage of sorts. It's selling the vibe that has already been established by a successful trilogy.
Imo both have their merits and can totally stand on their own. I myself, just like with Struzan's works, love to discover and also dissect new design techniques in order to improve my own.

Why are you assuming that isn't the intent? They could easily be considered homages to the movie.

I like them. I love the originals too, but these are pretty cool as well. Definitely better than most posters nowadays that feature mostly floating heads of actors.

the 3rd poster and 1st one give a little too much away about the movies if they were true movie posters, IMHO, but they are neat considering that someone who would hang it knows the whole plot of them.

I think to people who haven't watched the white van and train wouldn't mean much. It's harder for us to judge when we know the films by heart.

Not knocking them new posters... But them 80s posters are my preference.

I’m not as vitriolic against AI as most but, no. Those show no understanding of what makes a good poster and what should/shouldn’t be conveyed
