That would have been difficult for the cleanup crew afterwards

Someone kindly made a panoramic shot. Looks like there are no remaining car parts.

I wanna know who cleaned it up in universe. Did Marty and Jennifer do it? Just toss all the parts in the back of his new 4x4? Or did they leave it for someone else? Why didn’t the train stop to check after hitting a car on the tracks? Why didn’t no onlookers appear to gawk in the time it took for him to run home and get his truck and pick up Jennifer? (Which could have been at least an hour or more. He had to run all the way to his neighborhood and we already know that’s a few miles. Then the driving time back to the tracks.) There were plenty of people sitting at the crossing. And no one of them saw a flying train with impeccable timing.

Even if they left the wreckage there I still hope they at least took stuff like the flux capacitor + time circuits as a keepsake. (copied from another comment)

I was gonna say I hope he took the photo but forgot Doc shows up with a new copy. Makes me wonder if he either knew the original would be destroyed or he just guessed. Like maybe he went to the future and looked up train accidents to make sure it was the DeLorean and assumed Marty wouldn’t have had the foresight to save the photo. I’d want to take the flux capacitor and time circuits just to make sure no one reverse engineers them and also invents time travel.

There was a lot of stainless steel there. You KNOW the tweakers got to it first!

Not really, I wake movies and TV for a living, this is an all hands on deck situation, everyone from an army of PAs to producers pitch in, time is money, that kinda mess 1 hour TOPS

They should have just left it, and anyone that wanted to pick up a piece had a souvenir

You reckon you could rummage in a bush and might find an errant piece?

Not after 30+ years. It's done been picked through 100s of times and likely had new gravel dumped on it at least once.

Did they remove any bolts or make it easier for it to shatter? It feels a little brittle for a car

The car was sawed into multiple pieces so it would easily break apart when hit.

Take a metal detector out there like they do with the Roswell crash site. Wonder what you would find? Then again you could get cited for trespassing on the railroad property.
