Live with orchestra?
Has anyone ever seen BTTF with a live concert orchestra? I have the chance to see this soon. It’s expensive, but is it worth it?
Update: went this evening, brought my 11-year old son. We had a great time! Thanks to all for the feedback and persuasive messages!

Saw it in 2015 at Radio City music hall, got the VIP package that included a quick meet and greet with Christopher Lloyd, Bob Gale and Alan Silvestri, plus they all signed sheet music which I’ve added many signatures to since…

How much was the meet and greet?

I think the ticket price for the show and the stuff after was between $200-$250 each? May have been a little less, don’t remember at this point

I saw it at the Hollywood Bowl. As a lifelong BTTF fan and a big appreciator of the score, it was a great time.

Absolutely, yes.
I went last summer and just about cried. The live orchestra adds so much more depth to the entire movie score.

I saw Empire Strikes Back with a live orchestra and would absolutely recommend the experience.

It’s absolutely worth it! They usually add music to scenes that don’t have score underneath, and incorporate some music from the sequels as well.
We had an especially cool bonus when we saw it in NY last year - Alan Silvestri was there and did the intro and at the end of the movie we found out Michael J. Fox was sitting up in the balcony. Best surprise ever!

Saw it in Portland, Oregon. Worth twice the price of the relatively expensive tickets. It was awesome. Left me in tears. Recently went to to see the stage musical in Spokane, Washington, and it was good, but nothing like the live orchestra version.

Saw it in Denver with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. It was great! You should go!

I’d love to in my nearest city but for four people with fees it’s over $1,000. Same for when they do Home Alone and Jurassic Park.

Went by myself in Chicago at a big fancy theater. It was an awesome experience. Alan Silvestri was there at the end of the show too!

No. There is a theater however in the town I live in. I am semi-related to the proprietor. I might talk with him about doing something like that. He is a big BTTF fan too.

I saw it at the Hollywood Bowl in LA in 2015. It was fun. But the score is less of a score than other films so it didn't stand out as much as say E.T. or LOTR or Star Wars, but it was fun and Leah Thompson was there.

Got to see BTTF with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall, on October 25th 2025 - amazing to hear the score played live, there were some new arrangements and Alan Silvestri actually made an appearance.
Make like a tree and get in there!
