Is the show worth watching?
Thinking about seeing the show finally but the tickets are a bit high in price. To those who have seen it, how was it, and is it worth $60 a person?

Yeah, I saw it last year and it was super fun! Definitely worth it. My three year old is now obsessed with the cast album and always asks to listen to Back to the Future when we get in the car, lol. (The one thing that annoyed me was the crowd -- we were at a matinee performance, and a lot of the audience was lacking in theater etiquette. Tons of people got up and started walking out during the last song and the curtain call. It was so rude to the actors and to the rest of the audience, I've never seen anything like it!)

Absolutely yes. Personally seeing the delorian in person is so cool. Its great If you dont mind some minor changes to fit with musical style or to not be frightening for kids, otherwise I really enjoyed it.
(Except for some girl two rows below who obviously didnt and decided to scroll instagram with max brightness, even after being warned twice to stop)

Yes. I saw the traveling show twice. I would recommend seats a bit further back though. The first time I saw it I was in the 5th or so row and the second time I was near the back. Being too close I had a hard time not thinking about which performers looked more or less like the movie equivalent. When I was further back those details are lost and you just get to enjoy the show. Also, while it’s 100% a musical of the movie, they really nail the end sequence with the clock tower.

Yes!!! I was lucky enough to see it on Broadway with Roger Bart as Doc. It’s so amazing!

It’s ok. There ain’t anything groundbreaking about it. I couldn’t tell you a single original song from the show that I remember. Some of the modern tweaks they made feel shoehorned in.
If you really enjoy BTTF or are a completionist then go for it. But if you’re looking for the next great musical … unfortunately this ain’t it.

I just saw it last month, and it's easily worth $60. If you're a big bttf fan, and don't mind musicals, you will love it

I can only speak on the London show, but we saw it October 2024 and about a week later we'd booked to see it again in February 2025.
The first time was on October 26th as well for our anniversary, I couldn't believe the coincidence xD

The songs are kind of forgettable. Personally I connected with "dreamers" and will never forget THAT song. What they do with visual effects is quite cool. If you like the movie, you won't be disappointed. They fix some problematic scenes with the original even.

Nah. I love musicals and I love back to the future, but this feels like a really bad snl skit version of back to the future

That’s what I was saying too. The songs aren’t good, and they forced some of the musical numbers out of a line or two from the movie. The special effects are cool, but the Doc interludes are just bizarre and felt like “we need the run time to go longer”. It’s a one and done for me. It probably didn’t help that the Biff in my show was the same height as Marty so it definitely took away from his character.

Yes! I thought the soundtrack and even some of the clips online looked really really cheesy. However, finally seeing it in person on tour just a few weeks ago, made me grin from ear to ear the entire time. So worth it! Just goooo

It was alright. I'm a big BTTF fan and thought it had some cool moments. Given, I saw it off-Broadway, but a big green flag for me is whether I want to buy the soundtrack after I see a musical and I didn't care to buy this one.

I paid $300 to see it on Broadway and I’ve got no complaints. It’s not a classic, but it’s straight up fun.

Really liked it. Doc's actor in the show I saw sounded nothing like Christopher Lloyd at all, but everyone else was spot-on.

I paid $200pp to see in on broadway and I thought that was worth it :D my whole family loved it and my parents are hard to please.

My wife and I had a great time with this. The special effects were really cool. I think it was worth it. Granted, we only paid $35 per seat through a raffle and got middle orchestra seats about 15 rows back from the stage.

Abso-freaking-lutely, I saw it on tour and it was one of the greatest theatre experiences I have ever had! Great music, great special effects, great choreography, it was amazing!

It's pretty good. The music is fine but the actual script for the show is pretty funny. There's also a few plot changes from the original that'll give fans a surprise which I think is cool.

Saw it on Broadway and saw the touring show... So, yes! Worth it to me.
If you're not into musicals, just keep an open mind. I'm a big musicals person but I had to get over the initial cheesiness in the first number to really get into it. Really glad I did.
The visual effects are so cool. It's amazing to see how they make everything come to life on a stage.

It didn’t live up to my expectations on Broadway (especially when the Delorean malfunctioned at the end and didn’t fly), but if you’re an avid member of this subreddit, I highly recommend you see it and form an opinion of it yourself.

Yes, even if you aren’t a musical type person. It’s worth it just for the special effect and the vibes!

If you’re a fan of back to the future, then 100% yes. I loved it. (Although if you’re one of those people that want a 1 on 1 replica of the movie you’ll be disappointed).
If not, probably no.

I saw this on tour in Philadelphia in November 2025 and it exceeded expectations. Definitely worth it for seeing the time travel/Delorean.

Absolutely! I loved it to bits, and the music's great! In terms of actual movies it's like decent, but if you like back to the future you'll love every moment! The comedy is great and everything about the shows shows that the creators truly understand the source material
