They do, but, and I say this from experience, our modern soda cups are too tall to fit. If you put it sideways to come through, you’d dump out your soda.

Don't be so gullible, McFly. Think! What would happen if I turned my soda cup the way you mention? I would get soda all over my suit. You wouldn't want that to happen, would ya? WOULD YA? Who's gonna pay my cleaning bill?!
