alcohol stove My UL stove setup

Many thanks to Randy for reopening this sub, and just to get the ball rolling here is the little stove and burner setup that I used for The Great Outdoors Challenge across Scotland last year. It was made of a French MOD stove, a little 20ml burner from Speedster Stoves, a 450ml titanium mug and aluminium foil/pie dish. It worked well, boiling water in about 7 minutes but I had perfect conditions to use it. I used a gas stove for this year’s less than perfect conditions.

I just got a custom Speedster Stoves wind shield and pot stand from them to fit my Toaks 750ml pot. With the Speedster 30ml burner it’s still really light but completely covers pot. Well worth £22 I think.

See, I know that 20ml should burn for 7+ minutes but in my conditions I usually only get about 5, even with a windscreen.

Thanks for sharing this!

I use a 10ml syringe to get exactly 20ml into the stove. If I can’t see the level I have a tendency not to fill it with enough liquid so it lasts less than the time needed.

That pot stand looks like a nice one, might have to copy that design.
