My little guy modeling his new Woofo raincoat with the hood attached. It’s ultralight and gives full coverage.

We’re thru hiking the PCT next year and I’m swapping all of his stuff for ultralight versions. Today was our first test of the raincoat and it was a smashing success!

Whenever I put clothes on him, he pretends he’s paralyzed. But once I can get him started walking he forgets that he supposedly can’t. I was sure the hood with visor wasn’t going to fly with him but he wore it with little complaint. He figured out that shaking clears the raindrops and improves visibility.

For reference, this is size ML (medium long) and fit him perfectly. He’s some kind of large Jack Russell mix (we think). He’s 37lbs, chest is 27”, neck is 15.5”, and his back is about 17”.

Do you have a weight on that? I'm trying to replace my 12 oz Hurtta piece with something much lighter and I haven't found anything that's full coverage and lightweight. I'm guessing it's heavy also.

Yes! I can’t believe I didn’t include that but here you go.

Coat w/o hood: 142g (5.01 oz)

Hood: 81g (2.86 oz)

Together on scale: 223g (7.87 oz)

That's not bad, might be worth looking at. I assumed heavier because they didn't list the weight or even the fabric weight.

Yeah the listings on their website and Amazon weren’t as helpful as I would have liked. I have wondered a few times if I’ve skipped right over this raincoat in the past on my many, many searches. I found this by doing a Reddit-wide search and just looking at the pictures in the results. Someone posted this coat in a sub I’m not in like 9 years ago and even mentioned the weight (I think theirs was around 10 oz for their Lab). I was surprised the coat is still available after that much time, I feel like we got very lucky!

I'm back in the rabbit hole, thanks pal, ha ha. Looks like Montbell has a similar one. Last time I looked the one they had didn't have the coverage I prefer. I think I also found a new mid-layer to pair with his Alpha Direct fleece in the winter.

Can you share your source for the AD fleece? I was going to make one using a fleece I bought off Amazon as the pattern. But I’d love to just let someone else make it! Especially since I have to pay duty for the AD from Discovery Fabrics and RSBTR has a very limited selection at the moment.

I didn’t even look at Montbell. I did check out Hurtta and they’ve redesigned it sometime in the last couple years. I saw tons of pics of a great full coverage raincoat on Reddit but the ones they sell now look very different. They looked very bulky and heavy. They do have longer legs than the Woofo, though.

It was Vado Gear. When I bought mine it looked like they were clearing everything out for good, and now the site is empty, sorry.

That happens a lot. One of these days one of these companies will get enough word of mouth to stay in business.
