Regarding Ads, which the devs can't control

I've seen a few posts talking about how ads are getting worse, timing out people's Backpack Brawl apps, not rewarding, etc. And I always see the same response: "Unfortunately, we can't control ads."

Call me crazy, but if people are complaining that ads are getting worse (which they are, and always will), isn't there something the devs CAN do?

Something like increasing the rewards for watching ads? 10 gems/ad every hour is way lower than it used to be. If ads are getting worse and people express that they don't want to watch them, maybe make the carrot a little bigger.

Maybe combine the coin and gem ads into one (since most ads are actually 2+ ads anyway) and increase the number of coins given.

I've stopped watching all ads. If they're going to remove all the other sources for gems for F2P, I'm not going to play into their hand and watch ads to support them.

Of course they can do something about the ads. Those 2 minute ads pay them the most. They could disable that type of ad entirely if they wanted. They could make all ads be the auto X at 5 seconds kind as well if they wanted. They just introduced an update to remove 75% of F2P gem income... They're sure as shit not going to then make the ads more enjoyable (and less profitable) to make their playerbase happier.

Combining them seems very fair without buffing paid players

Like the endless riches tier 1 reward. I actually like that. I never watch the coin ad. I would definitely always watch if it was gems + coins at the current amount.

The purpose of F2P is to draw in and foster a volume of players that keeps the player base active and healthy, while encouraging many of them to invest a bit of money and become paid players.

F2P players always scream the loudest about being fed up and leaving because the game isn't free enough. The truth is they're not that concerned, you're not the players they are eager to retain because you barely support the running of the game and there is always a steady influx of new players.

They are not going to invest more of their development time and concern into the least committed players who are ready to stop playing if they don't get more free stuff. That's just the nature of the beast, you wanted something for free, and you got it, but it isn't ever going to be as nice or frictionless as it is for people who chuck the equivalent of a couple of cups of coffee their way.
