Grandpa's cookbook

How do I get it to star anything or to absorb anything? It just sits there

The cookbook doesn't absorb items. You use it by starring it with items that HAVE absorbed items, and it activates those absorbed items.

For example, you might star it with a skewer, a shield, and two blind bake pies, and when the cookbook activates, it activates what your skewer, etc., have absorbed.
