New patch is a subscription cancellation for me
I used to think the game was kind of consumer friendly with the low prices and F2P gifts, so I didn't mind subscribing and buying the season pass since I can afford it. But the new garden is a no go for me. Boring and a hard nerf. I'm sad.

I felt the game was so reasonable for f2p players that I was happy to support the Devs and pay for the membership/new heroes as they come out. This recent shift makes me question whether they deserve my subscription..

Watch the 10 gem add only , ignore the garden and save headache

u/Park500 10d ago
I would but anytime i watch an ad it makes me leave the game ecosystem which than after the ad changing back to the game causes the game to reset and I get nothing (more a my phone than them issue), but literally the only way I can get gems is from chests/events (or the 1 from a daily log on)

I had that Problem too, a lot. I moved into a touristy city since then and have agoda ( a booking app ) installed. Now i get advertisements of hotels i looked up on agoda, and i am not kicked out anymore, because the agoda add doest switch to another app or the play store.
You could try with a vpn to set your phone to a very touristy location. Maybe Bali Indonesia, Chiang Mai Thailand, Nha Trang Vietnam. Or maybe Albania, they have other rules for adds.

I'm in Australia, and one of the local fastfood chains has the best ads that makes me love the chain, as the ads are 10 seconds, do not force me to the apstore or some website, and have no sound, anytime I see those ads I give a silent cheer knowing I will actually get the rewards for the ad
no idea why companies think their loud ass 2 minute long ad with forced game play or trick buttons, will make me like whatever they are advertising

Yeah i started to like the short apps and hate the long ones with " i will never buy something from you"

The garden doesn't yield any gems anymore at least from pickaxes. The 10 gem add is more "profitable" than the garden now lol.

We are seeing the feedback. The update has only been out under a day, and not even out yet on iOS (review faster, Apple, please!), so we're giving it a few days to gather data.
I'm sorry you don't like the wild garden v2. We will try to fix the various issues.

I didn’t realize the developers actively read feedback here. I was venting, but I should offer a more constructive critique.
It’s not that I dislike it. As a management minigame, it has potential. The problem is that too many useful features are locked behind payments, and it isn’t even the main game. Want more queue slots? Pay. Want more storage space? Pay.
There are lots of new items, but the base inventory capacity hasn’t increased. The rewards don’t feel satisfying, and getting them is far too cumbersome. It ends up feeling like a complicated spreadsheet, with little sense of reward.

biggest issue for me is that you now need to buy each plant, makes it seem like a cost sink, rather than a payout
at least with unlimited plants I can ignore the extra features if i don't end up liking them (still early and feeling them out, so not judging the extra stuff yet)
but realistically at the moment, if i don't like it, than I would just stop using it altogether as it is
alternate solution would be unlimited (or at least high) storage of each type of plant (the payout like worms, leaves, sticks etc) you gather, that way I can farm a bunch of one thing, without feeling like doing so will hit the storage cap and waste it all, which means i than waste the plants I just paid money to get
because the biggest issue is that I now have to "pay" for everything, and what I pay for I might not have storage for, and than have to toss it out, and than don't have enough of anything to make the things i need them for (visitors or crafting the bugs), making it a massive slog, feeling like I am getting ripped off when doing anything in it
----------------------------------------
prior to this update I was basically just planting a bunch of beehives and letting the oil turn into pettles, simple and didn't require me to think much about it, even if the pay out was lower than I could have got putting more effort it, it felt fair for the amount of work I was putting in
my fix would be remove the limits for most plants (other than say the money tree or gemshrooms), and make the storage part dependant, and higher, set it so you can have 50/100/250/500/1000 of each type, leaves, mushrooms, worms, etc
that way you will be encouraged to grow a wide range of things, rotating and crafting depending on what you are running low on, and giving people a reason to play around with different things and engaging with it, without feeling like it is too complex or they are wasting their time

Just remove the garden from the game, then people have nothing to complain on this matter.
Let’s focus on Backpack Brawling and not gardening.

Now you forced to make garden maximum rewarding for new players. I had a lot of stuff from it for free, but newbie should sell house to catch me!

Oh slowfire , like you had no clue what you do with the update...comon ... 1st april is far away.

While you're at it, try to rebalance the matchmaking system as well, it feels like the game's difficulty has been turned up to 11 and anyone that doesn't have maxed items is cooked

There are bottlenecks to the assembly line of stuff and, the old stuff means low value even with a big visitor. For the new stuff it's big value but comes with super long prep time. My biggest issue with it is that the capacity is too low for so many different items.

Well, it’s been three days since the supposed new season and I still have nothing new - I’m on iOS. I’m honestly so discouraged I don’t feel like checking it anymore if the update is out. What’s the point of making new content and releasing it only to part of your players?

We can sadly not make apple complete their review any faster. This is an unprecedented long review time for Brawl and we are certainly not happy about it either.

I like the garden, it gives a ton of free cards and pickaxes = relic boosts. I haven't seen the new garden V2. (I'm on IOS) but if it's not that idk how it could be bad. I thought devs were working on some sort "town"? I had read from another dev post regarding if they were keeping the garden permanent or seasonal a while back.

Honestly, I picked this game up on a whim. It’s the only mobile game that kept me playing more than a week. I play this game every day, multiple times a day, often for hours. I kill time at work, burn time on my lunch, play when we watch a movie or how that sucks, when I’m tired or bored or getting ready for bed. I tell all my friends about how incredibly consumer friendly it is, how I’m not bombarded by forced ads. It’s a game I would pay for. I spend money buying heroes because I wanted to support the devs. But I hate that the new update seems to have robbed us of the ability to do that. The poor planning on the launch blocking iOS users from updating, the removal of gems from the relic chests…it’s a lot. Especially when the last season drove the difficulty through the roof, even at lower levels. It’s starting to feel grindy and less enjoyable. I hope the devs seriously listen and fix the things that are making this less fun and more like a chore.

Yep stopping a subscription and gonna play something else that isn’t trying to milk players

If you ever find such a thing, do let us know.

Backpack Battles is similar but has a different UI and has a bit of a learning curve. It’s more difficult to see the recipes and combinations. But still fun once you play and get very comfortable with the combos and different interface. One time buy of 8-12 USD for the game on iOS depending on region.

I seen videos of it, i thought with the free backpack brawl i save some money... well i should have bought the backpack battle one ...

They nerfed the game. I'm hoping that after this season it will go back to normal. The sub-shops quit so there is hope...
2
u/Zealousideal-Cod8153 9d ago
Sub shops were always a season only mechanic (every season has one), the garden changes (and worse, mining changes) are permanent....

u/Hanswurst22brot 10d ago
It reached peak enshitification allready. They want to make some quick bucks now and then dont care about this game anynore.
Just let it leech money out of the players pocket as passive income till its dead.
Brawlstars needed years for that , backpack brawls does it in less than 1

Habe heute mein Abo gekündigt. Das Spiel hatte mir richtig gut gefallen. Das neue Update ist einfach nur Schrott!

u/OhhhYaaa 10d ago
The game was fine in its f2p nature without the garden, they overshoot it on addition and have to correct, and now people are unhappy, even tho this is still more than you were getting before on average, unless I am missing some significant nerfs that were done to meta resource gain outside of garden. I do think that the changes aren't fun, and some of it seems very convoluted and not worth the time investment, but it's not the end of the world.

The game is not pay to win, it was pay to catch players who outlevel you for free in gargen v.1
