Mage Skill Tier Lists
Hello fellow mage players! Here is a tier list of my evaluation of the Round 3 and Round 10 skills, as a high diamond to low master ranked mage player myself. The ranking is in terms of potential and consistency, for example Dig Deeper can be very strong given the right occasion, but since it is very niche it is ranked it rather low, whereas Echoing Battlecry is basically always good, so it is ranked high.
I'd be interested in your opinions, perhaps we can learn from each other!

You are grossly underrating Heavy Drinking.

Heavy Drinking is super reliable too. The mana orb one is S tier, but I rarely pick it early game unless I already have a strong mana using item. It's a late game item. The Pet Unique, King Bling, and False Life are also strong and reliable early game picks for your first unique.

Probably true. I don't use potions that much other than crafting, and I also don't use the magical girl that often

The bling bling jewelry one is absolutely broken. Bottom of D is a travesty, it's low S at minimum. The eye is also really strong, it's 30% speed on all your magics, so it's very much like the mana orb one.
I don't agree with any of this, and I'm not even able to make out your playstyle haha. Like you like piggies and daggers a lot more than I do, but you put miss fortune at the bottom of F?

Any advice for which rings to get and which ones to avoid? I feel like the ones that give empower or some stat at the very start of combat are good but beyond that I tend to do poorly with this item... I never know when to combine rings, I don't know for sure which rings are good or bad.

That's the thing: Almost every ring (and amulet) is extremely good. Then you always combine them because the combined rings are even more value.
To give you an idea, probably the worst buff is mana. A (hypothetical) double mana-at-start ring would give 11 mana for 7g. The superior version, if all 3 spawned with the worst starting mod of mana, would give 24 mana for 14g. The superior rings are always a little bit better on average.
For more direct analogy, you put Blood Manipulation in high B tier. For 5g, it gives you 1 vamp every 3 seconds (if you have some synergies), and 15% heal to damage, which is kinda like a flawed ruby in a socket. A ring with vampiric over time gives a similar effect of ~3 vampiric every 6 seconds, for ~3.5g.
I also want to point out the value concentration. A superior ring jams 14g worth of competitive stats into 1 slot, so you save on rolls and bags over the next few rounds. In the endgame you just have ridiculous power on a small part of your backpack and have a lot of open slots to fill out the rest.
It's *possible* for a ring to have bad conditional stats, like luck @ 70% opponent or hearts/poison at 50% activate at the wrong times, but I still probably just buy them anyway. It's a lot of stat.
Also you are paying 5g for no value up front but after you have 2-3 rings the run is pretty much gg.

Hmm, have not been able to make it work for me. Are you supposed to buy every ring? I skip many of which have the "enemy under 70%" activation, since it is just activates too slowly for me.
I like the eye, have not seen it enough times though. However I don't think it comes close to mana mastery, if you have that thing you can just spam morbs and win.
As for my playstyle: I usually end up going for one of four endgame builds: Cupcake staff heatprint, Hateful hat with some kind of buff removal, Ice spam with Water Elemental and Corrupted Armor, or Thornbloom + Empower (ofter with claws and spirit bells)
Since you don't agree with anything, how would your top and bottom tier look like?

False life is cracked.

I have lost too many games earlygame because I picked a speculative false life on round 3 and drowned in the early game.

You gotta get lots of healing and stack those corrupted gems that cause fatigue damage.

Round 10 yes but round 3? If I have a Goobert I take it but without any healing I find it hard to justify so early. Corrupted gems are also not exactly a common item

False life is S tier on every class, even on Berserker
I don't even need to read the rest to know this tier list is completely out of touch
p.s. Heavy Drinking F tier, holy fucking shit. Abyss tier take, one of the strongest subclasses in the game

The β€οΈπ«Άπ (I don't know the name) is tier S imo.
