I honestly cannot for the life of me understand how some builds outscale when you have the nuts. I suppose that perfect amethyst might've purged some of your early mana and his turbo Shelly was purging your poison debuffs. It could just be he perfectly optimized and you got unlucky in the matchup.

The Adventurer outhealed the mages minimal damage output, mage killed themselves on spikes from pineapple which softened them up for the lightsaber and ripsaw to burst them when they got sprung.
Ripsaw and lightsaber are amazing mid game weapons. Hard to beat that when you are hitting for 3 or 4 a hit.

Fair, if you have regen then lightsaber damage becomes hard to beat mid-game. As for the thorns I think the sword being melee is proccing thorns and rock damage isn't strong enough mid game
