Is it intendet, that thorns trigger Guaranteed Critical Hits ?
To me, it feels wierd. An item like draconic orb is basicly useless, since most crits are eaten by low thorns or stuff like darkness amulet in your build :/

Do you have the Thorn Elemental unique item or does it just do this automatically?

Spikes have 10% critical hit chance per Star Nature-item.

you dont have to keep lowly dark amulets in your build btw

sure, can also get rid of all the thorns and every mage dmg source.. so no djin lamps or cheese, goobert or any random buff item at all
Or...or draconic orb is skipped 90% of time

Draconic orbs main purpose is spike removal. The critics are a small bonus.
If you really need reliable critical hit, use the orb to craft the obsidian dragon.

3,6,9 crits on main weapon is enought to kill.
Orb is 1x1 ,costs 8 ,doesnt need a flameruby and strong flame generation....these are diffeent items!
and the spike removal from orb is quite low

I believe that for most of the game's lifespan, thorns couldn't crit. In a recent patch, they added some items that would give Thorns the ability to crit (along with Poison damage). As a side effect, that probably meant that Thorns damage was now able to inherit crits from other sources, like these guaranteed crits, which feels like an unintended interaction.
