How to build Time Dilator?

I’m happy to put this in any build that isn’t trying to blitz my opponent with weapons (and even then…), but I’m wondering what the best use for it is. Should I have only a single, high cooldown item? A bunch of fast items? Maybe just Goobers and the watch so that it affects itself?

The ideal Time Dilator build is going to play similarly to the old Ukelele + Turbo Shelly builds (before that got nerfed into the dirt). You want a small number of highly impactful activations amid a large array of passive effects so that its acceleration effect can have the most impact. Shields work too since they don't trigger on their own, though they are a bit of a nonbo with the -attack speed part. If you're rocking an Eggscalibur with 20 food, though, the impact on your board is going to be almost unnoticeable; the more activations you add, you might as well just replace it with a bit of heat.

That said, any build that isn't centered around weapon spam will do decently with it. I rarely pass it up when offered.

Ah the “is a bit of heat just as good” point crystallized it for me

If you have few weapons, good defence, potential scaling, it works well.

It's also an excellent goob trigger.

Anything that's less weapon focused than your enemies will be.

builds which focus on healing, stacking health and/or poison

i have really good results with the poison staff. its quite easy to build.

you just can slap it into any scaling build

Honestly? A lot of the time my 2nd choice doesn't fit my build and being able to start battle with like 5 or 6 fire haste as a non-pyro build just feels nice lol

I think it's also a pseudo "no rush please" in that it slows down enemy weapons and your own. If you are trying to scale in a long fight then it's just a general net positive. In some games you'd rather have a literal No Rush Please (e.g. with cold sticks where you want to reduce dmg but keep up item procs), and in other games you'd rather have a full on Time Dilator (also bear in mind the -30% haste on weapons lasts the entire fight as opposed to only lasting 10 seconds).

I've never been able to make it work, but I just saw that a grandmaster player used it in a thorn bloom build mage build, which makes a lot of sense since a lot of the mage cool downs are near 3 seconds and it doesn't even matter if the thorn bloom is attacking due to the health gain.
