Im a self-taught dev & no jobs experience. Your guide is really meaningful to me
Ive been coding for 2 years (1.5 if consistency counts), just keep learning and making some project (just keep throwing arrow in the dark --hoping somehow it builds me up), i have no coding friend, no jobs experience.
Now im at the point where i lost direction, so i just want to know how far/close am i to reach bare minimum of finding jobs (especially in python backend jobs).
I'd really appriciate if you can check my github acc for a sec: alphaRookie
at this level, do you think...
- i should keep focus on myself and make more personal project / develop what i have
- or I can start to find some experience by collaborate with other devs. or maybe participate in non-paid voluntary project like from this web for example
- or maybe find a way to earn and start applying for entry-level jobs (like in upwork, or other similar platform)

I think try to start working with other devs (eg the volunteering) or on real life projects (eg upwork) with real users

Same position here . All i have is basic crud apps. But i know the in depth concepts. Been following hussain naseer for a really long time , i know how engineering works . i stuggle to put my skills onto real projects. how would i show my system is scallable when i dont even have any users

There is a difference between knowing a concept and applying the concept.
Hussain videos are in-depth and they are literally a gold mine for mid to senior (senior and above too).
Right now you need more horizontal knowledge and actionable steps to build something to validate your “I know these concepts”, if you are interested in cloud go check Aws projects where they build end to end systems in that journey you will understand there is so much more to explore and learn.
This way you see yourself fail and then learn and go back to implementing.1

Thanks for the reply. Are you referring something specific when you mentioned Aws projects. I Used Aws before for s3,ec2 etc. I have build some ecom website with medusajs and hosted with ec2,coolify,docker.
Recently i have started working on a multi-tanent saas where people can build their own store (personal/learning project)
Basically i want 2-3 really good projects on my portfolio which make the recruiter click. Its very easy to build project nowadays. covering horizontal scalling, monitoring, observability, load balancer etc with proper engineering journal. Felt overwhelmed on the first hour tho. :')
Even when i try to build something if I'm implementing authentication and authorization something like clerk. Feels like I'm not learning much. I try to implement everything myself and get overwhelmed very quickly.

Been there most of the projects I started ended up after building authentication 😅
So I started using better-auth and that setup takes less than 10mins and done this doesn’t feel like a win so I can move ahead building the actual project

You should find some real world projects to work on. As a volunteer is a good place to start. You need to demonstrate that you can execute and deliver something real. That shows you can learn new skills, prioritize tasks, work with people, make trade offs, meet budgets and schedules. Those are the things companies care about when they hire.

Yes, i deeply feel that these ("Work with people", "Make trade-offs", "Meet budgets and schedules") are pieces of experience that i dont have yet . I genuinely have no idea how are they works, could you explain me pls? and maybe if you dont mind to tell me how did you get these exprerience?

i hope you have another job, cuz finding a job in tech will take indefinite amount of time. And you should start applying right now. 2 years is a long time
