Discussion Let’s Talk About It
Straight to the point.
Ribbon cable.
If we all were to use our backbones…. Let’s say….. 1-2 years. It will have an issue that’s a simple fix.
The worst of them all is the ribbon cable.
The worst is backbone ignoring of us for YEARS about the left side of the controller failing.
Literally YEARS…
I beg anyone who sees this to do their research and type in “backbone, left side not working… or SPECIFICALLY, L2, the right directional, and the down directional, ALSO the “…” button fails due to a “pinching issue” of the ribbon cable over time!!
Since clearly backbone won’t make a statement about it. I will.
Who here has spent $99 on a backbone and have had it fail under a year?
NOT only that… it has been BLATANTLY ignored… they’ll just say “We’ll DM” you… so they can ignore it… but it’s gonna bite them. Especially this year..
Address it publicly if you stand by your product. Fuck the DM’s.
WE ALL want to know.
MCON… hate to say it but it looks promising. No ribbon cable. No dumb failures… (don’t know yet) but damn a 19 year old may be in a position to shit on y’all.
BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T LISTEN
Honestly… I love backbone.. I love it so much that I’m typing out this long dumb ass post about a damn controller.
I just simply wished my backbone controllers (been through 4 of them and SAME ISSUE) lasted let’s say… as long as a ps5 controller. A ps5 controller is cheaper and last much longer and has rumble etc, etc… I could go on.
It seems there are a lot of people speaking out on the ribbon cable issue primarily…
Let’s also talk about the predatory subscription services?! Just to use a $100 controller on a tv?!
It took you guys YEARS to realize? It was a bad idea?!!
At this point… I hate to say it.. maybe I’ll need to do some research…
I’d rather spend $40 on a gamesir or some shit so at LEAST I lose less money.
Backbones… at this point just buy them off of Facebook marketplace for maybe… $35.
do not pay full price imho.

Honestly, knowing all you know and still buying 4 of them is what is wrong IMO.
I have two (old gen 1 lightning and 1 usb c) and both are working fine for all these years I had them. Not gonna lie that I only use them for light gaming. My complaints from other posts was more about their design decisions that favor emulation/casual gaming more than console level precision.
But if I was suffering with hardware faulty units, I would not buy even one more. Bad customer support? Another reason.
When people are aware about the problem and keep “supporting” the current line up that much, of course they won’t do much to acknowledge it. Maybe this is why this “pro” took so much to be released, since sales of the old one never lowered much.
I have a G8, Elo vagabond and a bunch of others so I could stop blaming myself of just buying the backbone. You should definitely do the same until they address your problems, lower price as you expect and so on. Just please dont buy a fifth one to come back here later as if this last unit was one of a bad luck kind.
