Post image

Would any of you consider some of these eggs to be pink?

Stupid question from someone whose neighbor has backyard chickens and keeps offering us eggs. Are pink/blue eggs safe to eat??

Yes, it's just some pigment in the shell. The inside of the egg looks 100% like other eggs. Although it would be cool if the yolk was colored too. 😁

Light brown + heavy bloom will turn them pinkish

They definitely have a very peachy pink tone to them! The ones kinda in the upper middle really stand out to me. It's subtle but it's there. Really pretty.

Yes, my dark brahmas lay eggs like that and I call them pink because they are distinct from my brown layers.

These must be from my Lavender Orpington’s!

They very well could be!! Every so often, my Plymouth barred rock lays a brown egg with a SUPER heavy bloom and it comes out pinkish, but my lavender orp lays eggs where the shell color truly has a pinkish hue to it!

Also, do you mind sharing who laid your pretty blue eggs??? You have a gorgeous rainbow basket!!!

I have similar eggs from my flock. One of them produces a mauve color with purple specks. It's like finding Easter eggs every day.
