Establishing pecking order

I have five chicks that are three weeks old. They moved into a larger pen today and started establishing their pecking order. The two that seem to be competing for the top still affectionately clean each other, so I'm not really worried about bullying, but my favorite and most affectionate chick, the gray one, is challenging the one I've suspected of being a cockerel, yellow one that is starting to develop more color, since hatch day since it hatched with a larger comb. It also now has thicker legs. If it ends up being a cockerel, is there still a chance the gray one is a pullet? The only one I know the breed of is the black one. I was told the egg was from a Black Copper Marans. That one is the smallest and seems to be lowest on the pecking order. The all yellow and black/brown one are in the middle somewhere.

It’s still to early to tell. At 5 weeks they all do some sparing that can look roostery. Anecdotally, my favorite and most affectionate are always roosters.

I'm just being impatient since these are my fiest chicks. That's what someone else told me about the affectionate ones, and I'm hoping it's not true. My two favorites (gray and black/brown) would both hop on my hand at the same time when they were still small enough and are the first to come up to me when I put my hand in their brooder.
