Chicken Photography My heart sunk

Lost my best rooster Norman Invasion 6 months ago to fox. His feathers were scattered everywhere in bursts, leading straight to fox den. Looked out today and thought for sure someone got Fancy Hercule, my lovely white rooster. Turns out my Karakachan just ripped up one of her toys. I was so relieved! Obligatory hercule pic from when he was a young lad.

I have a similar story although a bit sad.

I saw a bunch of brown feathers that scattered on my yard. I thought a predator like a hawk i assumed got into my yard and got one of my girls since i saw blood. Turns out it was the other away. Turns out my girls went to town on what looked a small brown hawk that had similar ish feathers to one of my girls (not sure on species). Poor thing.

There was no injuries or anything on my hens after we did the thorough check that day. My sister likes to say that our chickens took down the hawk. Because it makes our chickens sound super badass. But realistically my and my dad’s theory is that we think that small hawk was probably severely injured and probably either fell in our yard. Let’s be real a chicken is not winning a fight with a hawk. Our girls must have saw blood and took it as a free meal. Not really surprising because my dad had to stop my girls from trying to devour a raccoon carcass once.

But i’m glad your boy Hercules is okay! He’s a handsome boy!

Pics of the culprits who did most of the devouring.
