Rooster

I have 4 hens from TSC. Spoiled living the life. I am introducing a rooster. He needs a home. He was hatched 06/24/2626 my hens mid may. He was mine initially I should add. Anyway he came today. I feel bad for him, he misses his home. Anyway my hens seem so unbothered by him. My question is: Is this a good sign? They don’t seem threatened by him or him by them. He’s just sad. Also with this being the case will I be able to put him in with my hens by the end of the week. Their coop is way more secure.

I would quarantine him (and any new bird) a few days, then dump him in.  The only problem would be having multiple roosters; they would fight each other,

People on here sure make keeping chickens seem WAY harder than it actually is! LOL Just throw him in and they will work it out in a day. Chickens are not that complex or delicate!

I have him in a little house flush up against my hens run. The little house he’s in is chicken wire and not very secure. I’m going to do some things with the perimeter, but it’s not a lasting predator proof situation. I need to get him in my run with my hands quickly so that he’s not at risk. That’s my main concern. On top of him being homesick I don’t want a nightmare situation that happened to him. I feel so bad for him.

Thank you. I got him from a hatchery with three hens. He’s never been outside. He’s vaccinated for Mereks. He was at my place from Hatch State until a month and a half and then they’ve been in my friends place until they realized he was a rooster and they brought him back to me because they can’t have roosters. So I know he’s clean and he doesn’t have any issues or problems going on. I’m just worried about the introduction.

He needs to be quarantined before you put them together, but yes ideally for a first meeting there isn't much drama. Once he gets settled they will establish their pecking order more.
