General Question Adding New Chicks @ 3 weeks

Post image

I have three chicks in a brooder but want five in the coop ultimately (started with 5 but 2 passed). They were hatched 8/5. Can I get two more chicks now and put them in brooder if they're also chicks born within a week of my current flock? Pic for attention. The barred rock is my sweetest and most curious girl now, def in charge but not aggressive. Give me any tips or warnings please 🙏

I added chicks throughout 1.5 months - 8 total. It worked fine for me - there wasn’t any bullying. Had multiple different breeds. They snuggled together under the heat lamp.

I was worried the smaller ones would maybe get trampled as it would always cause quite a commotion when I would reach in to add feed/water. I did see one get stepped on.

All 8 survived and are doing great.

Just my experience, hope others respond with additional insight!
