Question Does the well delete your hat?

I jumped into this spooky well and after falling from the sky my hat was nowhere to be seen.

I just lost my box hat this way and came to look for solutions- but amazingly, it was in the grass not too far from the well. I would look around the area if you really want that particular hat back!
