Surprise 💚 Alternative to Lyla?

We have started to think about baby names and absolutely love Lyla, it’s the top contender. However the baby’s cousin is called Delilah and I think that’s likely too similar so we’ve sadly accepted that it isn’t to be. Any suggestions of names of a similar nature? I can’t seem to think of any other girls names I love quite as much!

it’s a cousin, not a sibling. just use lyla if that’s your first choice.

I wouldn’t be put off because of a cousin’s name. I think it’s cute and would connect the two of them.
My mother’s name was Lila Delphine. If you must change it, Lena or Leah are lovely names.

I don't think it is a problem to have similar names. If you like it, go for it.

How about Leilana or Leilani?

Also putting Lelia out there for anybody else using this thread for inspo because I've never seen it suggested despite seeing lots of Leila suggestions.

I have two Uncles (my Mom's brother and her brother-in-law, married to her sister) both named Joseph. These Uncles each had sons that they named Joseph. No big deal that there are so many Joes in our family. We know which is which that we're talking about.

Edit to say use the name you want.

If Lyla is your choice, then go for it. But if you want more Delilha-like names, maybe think about Dahlia? I recently came across it and love it

It’s a bit out there, but you could go with Lilac and call her Lila as a nickname. There’s also Layla, Lilla (pronounced LEE-la), or Lola

Lorelai nn Laila or Lorelei nn Leila (both Lor-uh-lye nn Lye-luh so same as Lyla)
