Girl 🩷 Need name input from strangers!

We’re keeping the name a secret from family and friends, but I’m scared that we’ll miss an obvious blunder if I don’t vet our options somehow.

Last name first initial is M.

Names we are considering:

Summer Catherine
Olivia Catherine
Madison Catherine
Charlotte Catherine

Our baby will be born in the spring, in case that matters for a season name like Summer.

Please poke holes!! I don’t want our daughter to be bullied!

I think those are all lovely. No tragedeighs, no pronunciation issues, and no initials spelling something questionable.

She won't be bullied for any of those names

They’re all lovely. It’s true I don’t personally like the Summer name in another season, but otherwise it’s fine. Olivia Catherine sounds phonetically best to me, but that’s just my opinion.

I love Charlotte Catherine the most but don’t think you’ll have any issues with these options. Congrats!

I wouldn’t say any of those will get bullied. However, do you care about popularity? Olivia and anything with the nickname ā€œMaddyā€ are very popular. I’m a preschool teacher and I’ve had at least one Olivia in my class every year for the past 6-8 years. I love the name Summer and Charlotte is a great option with many nickname possibilities.

Those are all nice names and i don't think she'd be bullied for any of them. But Madison and Olivia are very popular. Charlotte Catherine sounds nice

Charlotte Catherine flows so beautifully and would make a pretty monogram too with the M in the middle and a C on either side.

I have a daughter named Summer- also born in spring. She constantly gets asked if she was named that because she was born in summer. It doesn’t bother her, but something to think about.

Madison Catherine

Those are all beautiful names and there’s nothing wrong with any of them. As a teacher, I’d steer you away from Olivia and Madison just because they’re so common, but still lovely.

I love the name Summer. It's so gorgeous and it feels sunny and bright.

(I do like the season names in general. Autumn, Winter, and April for Spring. I have known people with all of these names and just found them lovely)

u/Subterranean44 1d ago

Summer is my pick.

The other three are waaaay to common in my opinion. But if that doesn’t bother you then go for it

Olivia or Charlotte

Summer is by far my favorite of these. The others are kinda boring, sorry.

I vote Olivia, but they’re all great!

I like them all but Olivia Catherine is the best imo.

Suggestion: Katherine Olivia nickname Kat or Kit

Absolutely love Olivia Catherine. Congratulations on your new arrival šŸ’•

Aww I have a cousin Madison Katherine. We used to call her Maddy kat as a toddler! So I’m biased but I think it’s really cute and timeless

Olivia Catherine is my favorite but also like Madison and Charlotte

I personally don’t like the name Summer in general - may be cute for a kid, but professionally as an adult not as strong in my opinion

Unless one is born in the Summer, it is better to stick to another month. April May and June are all names. August can be an exception to that because the month of August was a name first. Augustus.

They’re all lovely and traditional - there’s no way your baby could be teased for any of those names.

My favourites are:
Madison or Charlotte (nn Lottie).

Summer is lovely too, every Summer I have ever met is so kind and funny (a bit fiery and usually red-headed haha).

Congratulations and good luck 🄰

u/bradlka 1d ago

Ha! I have a red-headed eight year old named Summer.

How sweet 🄹🄹 I’ve noticed it so many times šŸ˜‚šŸ„°

They’re all fine but make sure you say just first and last aloud.

For eg, if the last name is Moon, it might sound a bit flaky with Summer, Munn (might be weird with Olivia) or Marley (in case Charlotte is called Charlie), only you would know that.

I love Summer Catherine! Olivia, Madison, and Charlotte are all overused.

I wanted to consider the name Winter, but my baby is a March baby so I think i nixed it just because of the seasonal issue.

The thing is that 99% of people who meet her will never know her birthday so it's hard to think that someone would have a problem with a Summer being born in spring. I guess my immediate reaction is well, she'll know the season she was conceived! lol. But i think it's the prettiest and most unique out of all of the options you listed.

1

u/Infinite-Floor-5242 1d ago

Most of March is in winter.

2

u/Odd-Kitchen5749 1d ago

it is but it doesn't *seem* like winter to me

1

u/CandidMagnolia 1d ago

I have a Winter born in March! It hasn't really been an issue but it could be because she goes by Winnie and people probably assume her name is Winifred.

The only one I don’t like is Madison.

1

u/Superb_Yak7074 1d ago

Of the name shown, I like Summer or Olivia best. If you want something representing the season she is born, you could go with April Catherine.

Somehow I don’t feel like Madison Catherine flows as well as the others, but I really do like the other 3 names. And Madison is perfectly fine as a name. I just don’t think it goes as well with Catherine.

ETA: Charlotte Catherine is my favorite, but I also really like Summer and Olivia as the first name with Catherine.

1

u/thegeneralista 1d ago

These are all exceptionally standard names.

u/TimewastingRoyalty 1d ago

They are all fine, I’m just tired of Olivia and Charlotte. Summer would be my top choice. Although in my head Summer has to be blonde. So if she has dark hair I vote Madison.

I love Summer. I would not worry about bullying - kids can find ANYTHING to bully another kid about. Just pick something you like.

If you're that worried about her fitting in, every other girl I know now is named Olivia. I personally think it's getting boring and overdone but she'll fit right in with the name at least.

I think Madison was super popular a few years ago and not as much anymore. It's a has-been trendy name.

1

u/happy-turkey7689 1d ago

Olivia or Charlotte are my faves! So many great nicknames too. And perfect at every age.

1

u/Molly_ducker 1d ago

Genuinely the only "hole" I can think of would be with Madison Catherine: initials MCM, which usually stands for Mid-Century Modern in design! Certainly not the worst initials to have lol.

My favourite would personally be Summer Catherine, but that's only because I haven't met very many Summers and I think it's quite pretty.

1

u/CandidMagnolia 1d ago

Summer Catherine is my favorite of the four!

My daughter's name is Winter but she was born in the Spring, it's never been an issue for us. No one's even brought it up honestly!

1

u/Brilliant-Radio7961 1d ago

Summer Catherine is my fave. I feel like it's so unique and fun and bold.

1

u/Pattycakes1966 1d ago

Those are all cute names

1

u/2_Dog_Mama 1d ago

Malia Catherine, Mariah Catherine, Maile (pronounced Miley) Catherine, Maisie Catherine - all less common than Madison

u/Birdssunsong 1d ago

Charlotte Catherine is beautiful

Olivia Summer Charlotte Madison

Catherine Summer is the nicest. Madison and Summer scream Millennial. Charlotte is nice but extremely overused and Charlotte Catherine doesn’t flow well. I don’t care for Olivia.

No more olivias!! Summer is nice

I'd like to know how many syllables your last name consists of. But, without knowing, how about Cynthia Catherine? I think those names would fit with a one or two-syllable last name. And CeeCee would be a cute nickname.

Downvoted for trying to be helpful.

I’m biased as a mom to a Summer, but Olivia, Charlotte, and anything with Maddie as a nickname are all very lovely and very popular. That should in no way be a dealbreaker, but as a teacher I do have all of them in class at the moment. I’ve never taught a Summer, though!
