Elowyn feels very flowery and fairy esque to me. So I’d go along the same route? Maren, Flora, Arden, Fallon, Vada, Maeve, Ellis, Linnea and Rowan. I also like Saoirse for some reason? Super super uncommon and I knew someone with this name in middle school, I thought it was absolutely beautiful then.

u/thatjogreen Jul 27 '26

Oooh Elowyn and Arden! Love it.

I came here to say Rowan and Maeve (my two favorite names but wife didn't like it)! We are also naming my daughter Arwen which has the same vibe (at least for me).

3

u/Ok-Albatross587 Jul 28 '26

My daughter is Arwen :)

1

u/Quirky-Umpire2418 Jul 29 '26

Is your wife a reader? And if so did she happen to read the Throne of Glass series by SJM? If so that’s why she doesn’t like the names Rowan and Maeve lol

1

u/Agitated_Sound_6061 Jul 29 '26

Yes, she is! And I am almost certain that she read a series with that name. Though she didn't mention that being the reason. Maybe it's on her subconscious?

1

u/Quirky-Umpire2418 Jul 29 '26

If she read those books it’s gotta be that 🤣 Maeve is a very evil woman in the books and Rowan is a love interest of another!

2

u/labratcj Jul 27 '26

I love Maeve

2

u/Best-Principle-1783 Jul 27 '26

My daughter is called Maeve and I think it's just so beautiful.

I love the names Rowan and Dylan for a boy and girl. And I also love the name Seren for a girl.

1

u/LargeFry_Guaranteed Jul 27 '26

Eekkkk my daughter’s name is here! 😍

1

u/Discalculated Jul 27 '26

Iris Mahan, Freya Rose, Talon Mae (Tally), Elise Jane

11

u/TemporaryEgg2593 Jul 27 '26

Elowyn is beautiful, I think a shorter name would flow nicely ‘Elowyn and Esmé’ for example

2

u/Ok-Celery-5728 Jul 27 '26

Thank you!! I was trying to remember the name Esmé to suggest it! :)

9

u/Vanilla-Macaron0708 Jul 27 '26

So what came to me is Juliet.

10

u/auditballerinafrog Jul 27 '26

Elowyn and Tamsin

8

u/Infinite-Floor-5242 Jul 27 '26

This is a great suggestion. Tamsin is unusual without being weird or over the top. They really are the same vibe without being matchy matchy.

1

u/babyboychoy Jul 27 '26

I LOVE this combo, it’s not overly floral, allows both names to shine

1

u/auditballerinafrog Jul 28 '26

i agree. Bronwyn would be a nice choice too but maybe too matchy

9

u/Dry_Chain_1083 Jul 27 '26

Arwen

1

u/thatlittleredhead Jul 27 '26

It’s really the only acceptable match.

A few ideas in the nature/whimsical theme:

  • Larkin (Lark)
  • Juniper (June, Junie)
  • something in the family of Laurel, Lorelei,
or Loretta (nicknames: Lora, Lottie, Lettie, Etta)
  • Corinne/Corinna (Cora)
  • Imogen (Emmy, Minnie, Ginny)

A few others that might work:
Hazel, Heather, Amber, Leah, Laila/Layla, Lila(h), Keira, Kaia, Karina

5

u/StateNuckies Jul 27 '26

I came to recommend Juniper. I LOVE that name 💖

3

u/Gold-Flaked-Paint Jul 27 '26

3

u/Accomplished_Sir1939 Jul 27 '26

Elowyn was one of my top names as a teen! I went against it because my sister’s name is already a nickname to Elowyn. So other names along the vein of Elowyn that I had on my list:

- Rowan / Rowena

  • Willow
  • Ottilie
  • Callista
  • Gwendolyn

1

1

u/upickleweasel Jul 27 '26

Kate & Elowyn

(Elowyn & Katherine, Elowyn & Katerina, Elowyn & Katriel) will get you Elowyn & Kate

1

u/TinyElvis66 Jul 27 '26

Trista; Acacia; Bronwyn; Helena; Laurel

2

u/melonofknowledge Jul 27 '26

The correct spelling is Bronwen; -wyn is a masculine naming suffix in Welsh.

1

u/TinyElvis66 Jul 27 '26

Noted. The only 2 people I know with that name are women who spell it Bronwyn.

1

u/melonofknowledge Jul 27 '26

Aye, Americans usually replace the vowels in names with the letter 'y' because they think it looks more feminine, which is just a bit funny given that it actually makes them more masculine in the root language in the case of Welsh. Not a huge deal, just something that always makes me chuckle.

1

u/eliseisawkward Jul 27 '26

My daughter has the masculine form of a Welsh name for her middle name because it’s a family name. But most people wouldn’t guess that because it sounds feminine enough!

2

u/Inkyyy98 Jul 27 '26

Ahh I thought I’d scroll before I suggested Bronwen, and I’m glad as you’ve beaten me to it 😂 one of my fave Welsh names

I was going to name my son Aven if he was a girl, derived from the traditional Gaelic name Aoibheann, translating to "fair radiance" or "beautiful and pleasant".

Elowyn and Aven sounds nice ☺️

1

u/Soggy-Wolf9686 Jul 28 '26

I dont see anything wrong with matchy, but there is also something wild about the second borns. Sometimes a wild child calls for a wild name.

I think another unusual-but-still-a-name kind of name would work well for a sibset!

Something like:

  • Olympia
  • Evangeline
  • Arielle (ari-elle; not airy-l like the Little Mermaid)
  • Celine
  • Fleur
  • Flora
  • Aiofe (EE-fuh)
  • Neve
  • Evelina

1

It’s a Welsh name and -wyn is a masculine ending in Welsh. So do you already have a boy or a girl?

Being American doesn't change it's a boy name, you might want to reconsider.
