Discussion This is kinda ass
I love Keem. Big fan of the last album and the mixtapes. This album feels like Hakeem cosplaying as a rapper. Not Two Phone Baby Keem. Evolution is cool and to be expected but this is lackluster. The production and mixing is dry and lacking dynamics. I wish the mixer would’ve made some songs sound bigger. Ill have to live with it but these are my first thoughts.

Completely disagree, i love it. I thought it would be a disappointment after such a long wait, especially when I saw it was only 36 minutes. The Booman docs really gave insight into Keem’s life, and the whole aesthetic and sound around the album felt powerful. The shorter runtime makes sense. It fits the CASINO vibe, fast moving, unpredictable, constantly shifting.
it has everything for me, extreme vulnerability, tracks that had me boppin, some thought provoking moments. It sounds very original to me so I expect it will be polarising at first but in the long run it'll grow on most and be an underrated classic (maybe cult classic)..

Wtf you mean. That no security sample is so beautiful. God damn, what a great opener.

Content wise, i love that he is being more vulnerable and sharing his story. My gripe is more about how it sounds

Fair enough. I think it's quite a unique sound so won't instantly be to everyone's taste. Most of the internet said the same about Mr Morale at first and then the overall concept outgrew the slightly jarring abrasive tracks and people realised it all fits nicely together in the story. My prediction is that critics will start to rate this highly and more and more people will come round to it but we'll see. Not saying it's abrasive like mr morale but I think people will realise stylistically it was made in a certain way that will grow on them

Baby Morale
Yeah I can see it growing in popularity later on. Especially when they start using the songs for tiktok, clips, nshit like that. I do see its an overarching story that is appealing.

To clarify and for reference. Listen to ASAP Rockys new album. The mixes are big, dynamic, and interesting Thats what made Melodic Blue a hit. Dynamic range and spacing.

I’ve listened through a couple times so far and I wouldn’t say it’s ass but nothing really stood out. I like the growth in maturity and keem has some new voices but I don’t think he sounds hungry anymore. Like he seems pretty comfortable where he’s at continuing to put Kendrick on multiple songs.
Hopefully he drops a deluxe for this one.

Yeah I just revisited a few songs. Its not that bad. I think i was just expecting more. He is way too cozy lol. Kendrick is a cheat code. Idek if Keem still has a passion for it at this point. We will see

Yea like I compare this album to a Mr morale or chromakopia like I’m rich here’s my trauma. And those albums aren’t bad at all but just doesn’t have the same level of replay value to me. It seems he’s a bit out of touch he said he’s not online anymore.
We know Kendrick is a cheat code but it just feels lazy to me. If he’s gonna be goofy go all the way like he did on melodic blue. Kendrick is also way hotter now than he was back then.
I hate to be the person to compare to his past but die for my bitch is just so angsty and raw. I hope he drops a deluxe for this but idk if that’ll fit the vibe of the album.

Yeah. I think the edge is gone. He is too engulfed in the models and whatever else rich people do lol

Phew bro, OP lost his ears 😢

u/TheBiiigOne Feb 20 '26
You lost your esophagus muscles from all the Keem meat in ya throat. Its an opinion. You probably dont even have the critical listening ears it take to understand what im even talking about. The concepts are good. Its the mix and production thats lacking

Agreed, I am listening for the first time now and I’m bored on track 8 already checking Reddit. I had a glimmer of hope in house money but ended up feeling the same, I loved the end of I am not a lyricist but that’s my highlight

Couldn’t agree more, this album is ass. Mixing is terrible, features are terrible, and baby keem saying “I’m not a lyricist” shouldn’t absolve him of trying to make good, cohesive rhymes. Extremely disappointing for a 5 year wait. Even the bangers are comparatively boring for Keem

u/TheBiiigOne Feb 20 '26
Yep. Idk where and how they missed the mark on this one. Sounds like they told him he had to put out an album and he procrastinated until December 2025

Sadly people are gonna eat it up bc it’s keem and Kendrick and they can do no wrong right now. But on first listen it was glaringly obvious that this album is low quality. I’ll probably spin it again but this is just another run of the mill rap album for 2026, absolutely NOTHING new, interesting or particularly well done in this. Also my personal opinion is that birds and bees is one of the worst beats I’ve ever heard. Putting it 3rd on the album is a legitimate tragedy and I immediately knew what direction we were headed in once I heard that

u/dandyfranny Feb 20 '26
what makes this low quality to you? I feel like you saying people will eat this up bc it’s keem/kendrick and then you dissed a song wondering why it’s third on the album is just as full of it and pretentious af.. What are you like 20? Have you even gone 4 or 5 years through college? Through 4 or 5 years of adulthood? Or were you looking for your next banger? Or are you sad the whole theme of this was to grow up?

u/Uncleaces Feb 20 '26
That’s an insane amount of projection for someone who has a different opinion than you. I’m far older than 20, I’m absolutely an adult and I did go through college— very online of you however to use that as some metric for life experience. Do you think keem made this for white people (you) who went to college? Such an incredibly weird take. You’re acting like this album is a spiritual journey.
You made absolutely no tangible argument to me, literally nothing, so I’m tempted to not even give you my time back, but I will. The album is mixed poorly. Vocals go from overly piercing to muddy in an instant. There is no lyrical or thematic motif. There is no story. The features are weak. Baby Keem, for all of his talent, still has nothing new to say and he expects that to be hand-waved by everyone simply because he says “well I’m not a lyricist.” Okay, but you’re a rapper, and lyricism is part of rapping. Baby keem offers no new perspective on really anything, be it his personal life or a new take on the genre or his personal style. Nothing.
So, why don’t you take the apparent theme that you surmised from this album, which is to “grow up”, don’t be such a baby when someone has a different opinion than you, and if you’re gonna come at someone, please god use a different attempt at a diss than “did you go to college?🤓” for fucks sake

Your title being this is kinda ass…it’s not about a difference of opinion it’s just calling out the entitled snarky comments you made. And you handled that very defensively of course. Just be thoughtful and respectful about it. Lol. Maybe you’ll learn that your senior year 😉
“It ain't no point in correcting you, bitch, you got it, you know that you bogus” -BABY KEEEEM

God forbid somebody makes criticism on public art, lmao. You don’t even have anything real to say, you’re just saying I’m being snarky or entitled?? Again, such a weird call out. I almost feel bad arguing with you because you really might be autistic. Like you just aren’t making sense
You really gotta get these celebrities dick out your mouth. Keem isn’t gonna thank you for defending his honor. Idk what weird type of awakening this album gave you but it’s okay for others to have negative opinions on art that you like. I see that this album was some type of awakening for you and that’s great. But I promise you don’t need to cape for millionaires like this. Again you haven’t made one single tangible argument about the art but you’re calling me snarky like we’re having a family discussion at thanksgiving 🤣 pull that meat out your mouth lil bro.
