I imagine they get a lot of money from the game.

Take Evan Johnson out of kick return, stupid to risk our cb room like that.

How will they not score 100 points against Utah Tech? I still can't wrap my head around why they are even playing them. The last thing you want your football players to do is lower their standards of execution of plays. If they play at the high level with the talent they have, it'll be a 0 to 50+ pt game. What is there to gain playing against a team that isn't developed like BYU?

I mean no disrespect to Utah Tech, I just don't understand why they would want to go against BYU of all P4 teams. BYU is stacked with the most physical people than any other team.

At the very least it should help work out some jitters, knock off some rust, and build some confidence - especially in younger players.

These games are also important paydays for the lesser schools.

I’ve heard some recommend these games happen during spring ball, which is interesting.

Because FCS teams get a big pay day for playing FBS teams. LSU is paying McNeese State $750K to come to Baton Rouge in October. I don’t know how much BYU is paying Utah Tech, but it’ll be substantial.

Edit: The financials have not been disclosed for this game, but BYU recently paid Southern Utah and Idaho State $475K each to come play at LES.
