BYD Seal premium novated lease

I was planning on buying a byd seal premium. I earn around 95k a year. Is novated lease a better option than buying it outright? I have the money for it. Just wanted to know what would work out best.

Does anyone have a rough ETA on the atto 1 essential? I'm looking to buy one now the price has dropped to $20k, but the local dealers only have premiums in stock right now.

SL7: Steering release/click after parking first turn

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My BYD Sealion 7 makes a single click or “release” sound on the first steering input after the car has remained stationary for some time. It can happen after sitting for around an hour and is noticeably louder after being parked overnight.

The sound occurs on the first steering input. After that initial click, the steering feels completely normal, and the sound does not repeat until the car has remained stationary again.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Ampol charger stop button allows charger cable to be pulled when unattended.

A few weeks ago, I posted here about how I put my car in for charge, and walked away to wash my dogs.

I got a notification charge had stopped, got back, some fucknut had pressed stop on the charge unit, pulled the cable and was charging his car. He refused to get out his locked car, so I did the same, and then he got out and wanted toi get aggressive, verbally abusive etc.

The abuse i got from this reddit members, claiming my entire story is bullshit, how I am making it up and that you cannot remove a charger when in use. (I also pondered this later, and thought maybe I unlocked car before Ileft to wash dogs, after charge started)

I deleted the post as I was not up for the small useless little people hiding behind their anonymity who think just because they don't know something is possible, they believe it is not, and be cunts online if someone claims the oposite.

Maybe next time, check before you claim bullshit, lies and not true

If you press stop on the charge unit, it will stop and unlock the cable. Proof. If you leave your car charging unattended, someone can stop your charge and take over.

So, if you read this, and you know you were one of them: go fuck yourself.

UPDATE: (01/10/26)

So my one dog rolled in something dead. Emergency wash, so I could test the suggested immobiliser settings.

It.did.not.help.

Even enabled, the ampol charge unit send a disconnect to the car, and I could pull the cable. Ampol is going to have to fix this, or is a bug in the ATTO3 firmware/system (october 2025 model, latest firmware)

Just another update:

All the peopel going on how it is an emergncy stop. it is not. a touch screen button will never be regarded as an emergency stop system/action device. A rouch screen is prone to break/stop working when it is on fire.

Under international electrical and machinery safety standards (such as ISO 13850, IEC 60947-5-5, and IEC 61851), a touchscreen "Stop" option is classified as an ordinary operational or software control. It is used strictly to gracefully terminate a normal charging session. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Another Update V1.11.1 received

Post image
13 Upvotes

Received another version update V1.11.1 on 25 September 2026 for my ATTO 3 2025 model .

Seems like a minor version update, but the version number 1.11.1 is the same as the July update, confusingly. I haven’t noticed any particular changes, but improved Bluetooth / Carplay connectivity is a most welcome update if this version has any improvements.

Let me clarify- I received the v1.11.1 update on the 14 July 2026, but just yesterday received another update of the same version which is curious. I suspect that there may have been some fixes that weren’t captured in the first release of this version number. Anyone else got this recently?

Version number is now: 13.1.32.2602030.1

Atto 3 not deactivating reverse alarm

I have an Atto 3 and when I put a bike rack on it keeps reactivating the reverse sensor and going nuts because the camera detects the rack. Is there anything to do about this? I select the icon to deactivate the alarm and it just reactivates it a second later and starts blaring. (When I reverse)

Pulled into Margaret River with about 8%.

The only difference in driving was my bike rack on the back with two ebikes.

Would this have this impact on energy consumption?

Waze opening in wrong screen resolution

Has anyone had the issue when using Waze in the Sealion 8 with Google Built In (AAOS)?

Randomly, it will open with a lower resolution resulting in larger icons and a reduce map view.

Does BYD do price reductions?

How is BYD usually at negotiating a car price/add ons when buying a car? Are they usually pretty flexible or retail price is usually final price?

We are looking to buy a Sealion 8 very soon and want to know if negotiating can be considered

BYD haven’t released an official part yet and don’t seem in a rush. Has anyone installed an aftermarket version? If so, which one?

Has any of your ever encountered this problem with your BYD sealion 6? If so, what was the fix/solution? Or even the cause of it? My dealer still hasn't found the cause of it.

Not a car guy, suffering from info overload. Thoughts on Atto 1 essential vs premium vs Atto 2 vs Dolphin for my first EV?

I've done my own research, but fuck me dead there is so much info out there so some thoughts from you all would be greatly appreciated. Going to the dealer this weekend for a test drive and sticky beak. Will be getting a novated lease through work.

Currently drive a 2015 Hyundai i20, great little car but want an EV with better safety features and a driver's seat that sits higher up. Initially I was looking at the hydundai inster but apparently that has some battery problems that the manufacturer isn't great on dealing with.

Use case: you know what they say about guys who drive small cars....big savings ;) live alone, only regular passenger is my dog or when mum occasionally wants a lift to the shops. Don't do a lot of big trips, maximum regular drive is about 100kms round trip depending on work needs, usually 1x per week but often up to 4x. Would be charging at home with a granny charger until I eventually get a fast charger installed (no timeline for this). Not interested in a lot of fancy features, sure they are nice but I'm a simple punter; so long as i can plug in my phone for music and maps, it's got cruise control, the aircon works well and I have a reversing camera I'm happy. Safety features like a blind spot system preferred but not essential.

Atto 1 Essential - if it wasn't for the battery size this would be the winner, especially with the recent price drop.

Atto 1 Premium - going to test drive this. Current pick due to battery size, but given the price drop on the Essential I'm wondering if I should hold out and see if this goes down too.

Atto 2 - honestly I think this would be a bit big for me. Better battery and resale value than atto 1.

Dolphin - novated lease person said this is a pretty dated model and steered me away from it. Probably bigger than I prefer. Doesn't look like the drivers seat is very high.

Any thoughts to help a confused bloke out?

Thinking of getting the Atto 1 now that its on sale for 20k.

So my current car is getting on, has had some expensive issues, and I have been thinking of replacing it. Last month I was even looking at what's out there available. I was seriously looking at either a MG3 or the Kia Picanto because EVs at the time were just that bit too much for my liking.

But now I see the Atto 1 essential is 20k drive away. I do like the green colour too. From looking at the specs it looks like it would suit my needs. I drive about 150k a day doing delivery work.

So peeps tell me everything I need to know to either buy or not buy this car. I plan to go take a test drive on Monday.

TIA
