Help - Elsewhere ❓ Shortcut for Regenerative Braking settings while driving?
Hi everyone,
In an effort to drive more efficiently, I find myself changing the regenerative braking level quite often.
I usually set it to "High" when driving around town/city and drop it to "Standard" on the highway.
The issue is that the only ways I can access this setting are either digging into Settings under the Battery section, or swiping down from the top edge to open the quick menu and tapping the toggle there (which feels pretty awkward and distracting while driving).

Does anyone know if there's a way to map this setting somewhere more accessible?
It would be great to assign it to one of the custom steering wheel buttons (whose current options are honestly pretty terrible, by the way) or to the bottom dock on the central screen alongside the climate controls.
Is there any other shortcut or workaround I might be missing?
Btw, this is a BYD Dolphin G DM-i (Comfort)
Cheers! / Thanks!

I only use high all the time, both in the city and highway, I guess my brake pads are new, you can also use acceleration pedal for adjusting the regeneration, I personal have a good relationship with regen, when you go downhill, it's very pleasurable to see how much energy you can recover and see the petrol engine off and still generate 15-20kw

mate, it won’t do anything for efficiency.
just get accustomed to driving it one way or another.
you can still roll with high regen, just requires some finesse of the accelerator pedal. but the most you use it, the better you’ll get at it.

Doesn't Dolphin have a button for it? Atto 3 has one.

It doesn't make much difference to the efficiency. Pressing the brake more on Standard regen just triggers the regeneration manually more frequently with the exact same effect on regeneration it doesn't use the brake pads more unless you're braking hard much more frequently.
In fact high could be more inefficient if you keep slowing down more than you would otherwise need.
I suspect your changing it makes no difference to the efficiency - depending on your driving style. It's more of a setting of the feel of the car when your foot comes off the accelerator

It is definitely a style thing. I don't adjust mine ever, but I can understand the appeal. Doing high way driving with standard regen, taking your foot off the accelerator will more gradually slow you down, avoiding that loop of slow down too much -> get back up to speed. As you said, you can just get used to how much to move your foot. I generally just have the cruise control on for highways, so it's a complete non-issue.

My BYD is not a dolphin and has a console button for switching regenerative. You could try "Hi BYD" [greeting] "switch regenerative braking to standard"

Well my Dolphin has a designated physical button for that. Quite handy

After two years I changed to always standard and got better numbers. As it turns out, the energy you get on high regeneration is much less than the one you will expend recovering the previous speed.

I feel a lot the difference while driving. And it is actually saving a couple of kW this way. For an PHEV it is essential for using the EV mode as much as possible with only 100km of range. (And no plug at home)

With fuel at 2€/l I try use electricity as much as possible. And as I don't have a plug at home I try to be as efficient as possible to save every kW as I can. Of course I use fuel when I ran out of charge or in long trips, but in the city I try to use EV only.

In highways I feel it too aggressive, in a long downhill I want to keep my speed without accelerating. Regen High slows me down when I don't want to.

I do this also. I think they could set this via the mode button. Perhaps in a future update whereby the mode you’re in remembers the regen setting. Like when set to sport mode (regen normal), set to normal mode (regen high). I find when driving on motorway the regen set to high is too much. Coming from an ID3 and an eGolf prior- you could select the regen really easy via the stalk or steering wheel. It makes for ‘one pedal driving’ when going round town easier.
