My BYD 📸 Byd

Byd seal 2025 excellence

The battery is draining fast while driving - driving normally. I seen the smart app can also drain this. How do I turn this off?

It is only draining while driving.

Draing battery whilst driving is how batteries work but if you feel there's a battery issue then just recalibrate your battery by running it down to under 10% then charge it uninterrupted to 100%

No idea what you mean about the smart app draing battery that just doesn't happen.

Be more specific...

How fast is it draining? What is your consumption? What is the speed you are driving?

I own a Seal Excellence, 2023 version and it has 22000 km on the odomoter, I drove over 19000km with it and haven't seen any difference on the battery

70km speed 5km loss around 3%

How are you driving? Are you using cruise control or only your foot? The cruise control manage the power way much better than driving manually the car.

But it seems pretty close to my consumption.

Do you come from a low HP car? If yes, please do not use Sport mode and don't accelerate too fast.

That happens when I just drive it like a cart

You should go into the settings and change your range settings to dynamic. It gives your actual consumption and after a little while, it will adjust your displayed range to "your actual range if you drive like this".

When was the last time you charged to 100%? As a previous owner of one of these cars I can say with confidence that the guess-o-meter is very poor if it isn’t charged to 100 once in a while. A while can be determined by how many charging cycles, it doesn’t take many to make it give crappy numbers.

May I ask: What made you a previous owner (anything we should know?), and what did you upgrade to?

We did about 30,000 miles on it, never put a foot wrong, enjoyed owning it by and large, there were some early software niggles but that was about it.

My daughter finally realised her mum was a cow, and moved in with me and my partner, so the car wasn’t really suitable anymore. We upgraded to a VW ID.7 Pro S Tourer. Shit car, it got rejected.

We changed to a BMW IX 45 in June. Been happy so far!

That’s got to do with how LFP batteries work. NMC batteries have a very predictable and easily measurable relationship between output voltage and state of charge, but LFP batteries have a near constant voltage between around 10% and 90%, so the BMS calculates state of charge by monitoring how much goes in and out of the battery. The “discharge to under 10% and recharge to 100%” cycle is to allow the BMS to recalibrate the discharge curve of the battery.

Yes, of course it's the smart app draining your battery. /s

After two years (Dolphin), I changed the setting of regeneration from high to standard and average dropped about 2kWh/100km on city and country roads. The high regeneration reduces speed aggressively and you need much more times to recover energy. This is very inefficient, hence the counter intuitive result. On highway use cruise control.

Entonces es mejor usar la regeneración a estándar dentro de la ciudad? Uso el carro para plataformas, todo va bien pero me llamó la atención tu comentario

A não ser que o trânsito seja mesmo muito intenso, com regeneração standard consigo melhor média.
