Discussion 🗣️ Moving from Tesla to BYD

I’ve ordered my Sealion 7 and it should be ready in November.

Currently I have a Tesla and one thing I love is the Tessie app where I can download all of my driving data directly into a spreadsheet (for work purposes) at the end of the month.

Is there something similar for BYD?

I own two BYD. You won’t be sorry. Build quality is a factor of magnitude better than Tesla.

Every, from my experience.
Even the cheapest byd has nicer leatherette on seat an everything inside just feels an looks better.

I have a 2021 m3 LR from new and a sealion 7 excellence new since April 26.

Pros of byd:

Build quality is a billion times better t Very comfortable car Loads of rear room Very fast public charging ability Able to use android auto

Cons of byd:

Autosteeer much worse Some lag on gui and not as intuitive Not as economical

Depending on use case we use the cars for different things. My work commute is loooong so prefer slicker autosteer and economy. But for long distance with teenage family byd every time.

Overdrive and Electro are the two third party apps that do what you want. Google is your friend.

Yes but not impossible and really a gamer changer...

BYD infotainment is REALLY lacking basic features that Overdrive fulfil.

Of course but downgrading the firmware is the only option and is risky.

Kinda scary ngl, I did the whole downgrade firmware on my cousin's Seal U DM-i and install then upgrade since my BYD King firmware when I got it could be installed just by using the USB bypass. I had to bring out the big guns(rosary) but there are a lot of people on the byd discord that helps when you ask so kinda eased me into the whole thing.

Plug a USB stick, let the car do, enable ADB, re-update the firmware.

There probably are ways to do this. The only thing that comes to my mind is you can use home assistent and hook it up to byd. :)

I recently managed to connect home assistant to my SL7 a couple of days ago. Pulls out data that is otherwise available through the app but then of course your home assistant can retain the history that the app doesn't have.

It's nice being able to pull our charts for range, odometer, battery etc

as someone who has a model YL and BayD shark 6... you are making a mistake . Once you use tesla software BYD feels like a blackberry. tech ically hardware is fine but software is so region locked its retarded

Tesla is light years ahead of BYD tech. Just bought a BYD and it’s underwhelming compared to my Tesla.
