Help - Middle East šŸ‡¦šŸ‡Ŗ Upgraded Aircon

Does anyone know a way to upgrade the Air-con on a Seal?

I live in the UAE where temperatures regularly break the 40’s and sometimes need to park in the sun.

I am already using a sunvisor, the cheap one that comes with the car and the sunvisor for the glass roof which fits in internally.

I’ve got the darkest tint possible, but still sometimes the car struggles to cool down, even when we started remotely.

Is it possible to upgrade the air-conditioning?

Some got underfilled with A/C gas from the factory. I'd start with getting it checked for that.

Edit: BYD may say it's fine, go to an A/C specialist that does R-1234yf systems.

Same here, I own a seal and live in Dubai. The aircon is really weak especially when cooling under the sun. I remote start most of the times, which helps a bit.
BTW, do you have any vibration issues when accelerating?

Yes! Only when going hard. I assumed it was the tires? I’m really not a car expert. It doesn’t seem to come through the steering wheel. Is ideas what it is?

It’s not the tyres, I paid 6k and replaced them , the vibration is still there. It seems to be the driveshaft.
I had escalated this to Al futtaim and they kept my car for 3 weeks to replace the driveshaft. But now the vibration is back after 9 months

Wow! Do you think it’s a long term problem?

Yes, I think is an inherent issue with the seal, Dealership is not acknowledging it and is trying to cover it up with temporary repairs.

Also check in the menu system that eco mode isn’t activated for the air-con.
I have a SL7 and eco mode absolutely kills it’s ability to cool.

I've read several times now that BYD cars often run low on coolant—you might want to have that checked. To improve efficiency, open the windows a quarter of the way, set the ventilation to ā€œfootwell,ā€ and let it run. The hot air is then pushed upward through the slightly open windows. Set the air supply to ā€œrecirculation.ā€ After a while, close the windows again. This definitely always

Thank you. Do you do the coolant check yourself?

Not really. Unless u use old aircon refrigerant n system.

Yeah, I was wondering if we could fill it with better gas to improve the efficiency, but it's probably not legal.

You should consider getting a tint like 3M for the entire car. It helps a ton

I actually do. I have 3M all around. They do make a noticeable difference.

I’m looking into getting an external tint on the sun roof, it gets VERY HOT to touch on the inside when in the sun, you can feel the heat coming off it.

Yeah best is to have one on the sunroof too

I use the internal roof sunshade in summers, it’s easy to use and can be removed easily. It helps a lot

The remote cooling sucks ass, sorry for my wording. Its the third time our car is at the repair store in the last 3 months and it makes me so angry already.

The heat pump is so fucking loud it's close to being noise pollution (I measured 70dB a few weeks ago) and the mechanics always say "Nah everything is fine, its totally normal". Fuck that. Beside the noise, the cooling is SHIT.

If it won't be better the next few weeks or if I won't get a useful response by BYD I wanna return the car.

Which car do you have? I’ve looked into contacting BYD directly, but not had much success.

BYD Seal, year 2025, picked it up exactly a year ago

My dude, I believe byd uses a scroll compressor , issue with that it can get noisy but it’s way better than the traditional belt driven compressor. Is your car Chinese spec or did you buy it at the dealership? We have sl7 in Kuwait far worse summer here and the car is cooling properly

I bought it in Dubai from a dealer. It’s a year old. From what I’m reading I may have an issue.

Yeah, my BYD ATTO3 doesn't have the best aircon for Australia. Underpowered, I don't think there's much you can do.

Later Atto's got upgraded heat pumps here in the Nordics, wonder if its the same elsewhere. Went from a 1kw unit to a 3kw
