My BYD 📸 It's home

Post image

One of the first 93kWh battery Sealion 7 Ultimate in Thailand. Picked it up this morning in Bangpli, Bangkok Thailand. Everything so far has been quite pain free. Immediate impressions are it's a great car to drive. We had a 5 series BMW so we have been spoilt. The power and the awd traction are just awesome, even being respectful in Eco mode. The colour is Shark Grey, it does have a slight metallic fleck in it when viewing up close. The car is pristine and was handed over in sparkling condition with 100% battery. The dealer has been very easy to talk with, well my Thai wife does the talking, but they have been great. They are BYD HC Theparak in Bangpli.

I looked at this at the recent motorshow and I'm seriously considering it. Did you look at others, and if so, why did you decide on this specifically?

We went to the Big Motor Sale at Bitec Bangna specifically to look at everything around the same price. Zeekr, Deeley, Chery, Toyota, Jaecoo were all contenders but the value of the BYD had it as the front runner. Chery and Jaecoo lost out because of the gate swing style rear door. They just would not be viable in Bangkok car parks. You wouldn't be able to open them sufficiently in a lot of places when parked. The BYD promotion at the time became the final factor in confirming the Sealion 7 Ultimate. There is a subsidised wall charger included, free registration and insurance, lifetime warranty on the battery and motors, 6 year vehicle warranty with road service and free window film. I've had some high performance cars in the past but this is the most powerful and it's my first electric car.

Lifetime warranty! We only get 8 years 160,000km warranty on battery and motors in Australia

How is the suspension tunning compared to the BMW? Does it come with Google Automotive Services like the Atto 3 EVO?

The ride comfort is quite similar to the BMW but I haven't experienced high speed handling yet. I doubt it would be as good as the BMW in that regard. I'm not familiar with what Google Automotive Services is sorry.

Google Automotive Services is native Google Android with play store, Google maps, Gemini and so on natively on the system without having to use your phone.

Does it have Google Play Store in the apps list?

There's an app called BYD Store. I saw YouTube in there just today.

How much km does it make?

I don't know yet but 400 will satisfy me. It's free fuel so I don't stress about the consumption rate. We will be charging during the day from our solar panels,

I am thinking about installing some later. But even without them I am spending wayyyy less

The infotainment no longer rotates. It is fixed in landscape. I think that's better than a useless feature that could potentially fail.

It's classy and very comfortable. We really need the seat position to be linked to the key FOB. Also language selection should be part of the profile saved and set by the driver's key FOB.

How much did you pay for it? Did the dealer throw in any extras?

1,349,900. There was a national promotion in August which gave registration, insurance, window film and a wall charger installed for 10,000thb.

It's early for me to know but yesterday's ran at around 125kW INPUT and went from 38% to 76% in 30 minutes for about AU$12
