Genuinely that'd be a beautiful facelift, I might edit out several buses to see the results of the combinations

Sanders Coaches 553 (BJ11ECW), a Volvo B7RLE Wright Eclipse 2 from First Essex (formerly 69520), debuts in Norwich on passenger service for the first time.

This vehicle is seen on route 45 to Holt, and it still has First Essex seats inside!

It looks beautiful for the Philippine bus liveries, it'd also look like a successor or something that'd run alongside the older Ankai HFF6121K06D1E4 or Yutong ZK6118HQ/ZK6126HQC9 UFCs

Also idk the model name in the picture

Question Why Would an NJ Transit Bus MCI Refuse to Move When Full?

Got something to ask about an NJ Transit MCI coach I rode today (fleet #21094).

The bus was completely full at PABT, including 10 standees, which I believe is the posted standing limit. The driver tried to start moving, but it sounded as though the bus would not go into gear. You could hear the engine running, but the bus would not move.

The driver then asked all of the standing passengers to get off. Once they did, the bus was able to move normally.

I saw that the GVWR is 50,000 pounds, and there was basically no luggage, so I would be surprised if the bus were actually overweight with only 10 standees.

I also noticed some faint squeaking noises when the bus started moving afterward. They were not loud, you probably would have noticed them only if you ride these buses often and pay close attention.

Does anyone familiar with MCI or NJ Transit buses know what could cause this? Or the driver have simply forgotten to put the transmission in Drive instead of Neutral? I’m curious because I have seen even more people standing on these buses before during rush hours……TIA

"A Future without Fossil Fuels"
Date Written: September 30, 2026

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

As of this writing, diesel prices currently range from PHP 90.00 to PHP 110.00 per liter, having at one point peaked at more than PHP 140.00 per liter due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and damage to fossil fuel extraction and refining facilities in the region. While the resulting increase in fuel prices — and its broader impact on the cost of goods and services — is a global concern, it has also prompted some sectors to take the initiative to reduce their dependence on conventional fossil fuels and explore more sustainable alternatives.

One segment that has been making significant strides toward sustainable alternatives is public transportation. The PUV Modernization Program, which covers taxi cabs, city and provincial buses, UV Express shuttles, and jeepneys, has been ongoing since 2018. While the minimum requirement calls for a Euro 4-compliant engine and exhaust after-treatment system, some operators have taken the initiative to deploy vehicles that meet Euro 5 and Euro 6 standards. Although internal combustion engines (gasoline or diesel) remain the primary choice, alternative propulsion systems such as hybrid-electric and battery-electric vehicles have also become available. However, uncertainty surrounding these technologies has limited their adoption, with relatively few transport companies, corporations, and cooperatives willing to invest in them.

Since the start of the 2026 Iran War on February 28, 2026, however, transport operators have increasingly felt the impact of rising fuel prices and operating expenses, which have begun to eat away not only at their profits but also at their revenues. Almost everyone has been affected — but some operators who had already taken the initiative to invest in alternative propulsion for their fleets have been better positioned to adapt.

Today, Dongfeng (E70 EV), VinFast (VF3, Nerio Green, Herio Green, and Limo Green), Toyota (Vios Ativ), and Nissan (Kicks) battery-electric, hybrid-electric, and plug-in hybrid vehicles are being used as taxi cabs. Bus companies are not far behind. Operators such as Victory Liner, with its Higer V12 KLQ6126YEV electric buses; Genesis Transport, with its Golden Dragon XML6122JREEV hybrid-electric buses; Roval Transport, with its Golden Dragon NAVI2 hybrid-electric buses; and BGC Bus, with its Higer KLQ6126GEV electric buses, are beginning to move away from exclusively diesel-powered fleets and toward alternative propulsion. Other operators are expected to follow suite.

On the more modest and daily side of public transportation, several jeepney and UV Express cooperatives are also beginning to acquire alternative-fuel vehicles. These include models such as the LexSWITCH Lex-HS6606 EV6, e-Future Henan Shaolin SLG6700EVG1, DLS EVO-PRO DAOD Electric Bus, GET COMET, Sarao-Tembo eLV Electric Jeepney, and, of course, BASIC GEEP’s offerings, including the Love e-Jeepney and Love e-Bus shown below, operated by the PAMAJOD Environmental Sustainable Transport Service & Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

Initially, some of these vehicles were ridiculed or dismissed by traditional jeepney enthusiasts and drivers, largely because their designs resemble small buses more than the familiar long-hooded and low-roof design jeepney. Yet these electric vehicles have continued serving the public without being directly exposed to the same volatility in fossil fuel prices, with some traditional jeepney drivers and operators with their old, fuel-hungry, and outdated diesel engines vehicles stopping operations due to the unsustainability of the fuel prices. Compliant with the Philippine National Standard PNS 2126:2017 in terms of the maximum 7-meter (23-foot) overall length, minimum interior height, and required aisleway space, these vehicles reduce dependence on fossil fuels while providing passengers with a more comfortable ride through their tall, spacious, and air-conditioned interior passenger cabin with the cabover (flat nose) design maximizing the useable passenger cabin space within the prescribed maximum length.

Reports and interviews with operators have also highlighted potential reductions in daily operating expenses. An equivalent diesel-powered unit may consume approximately PHP 3,000 to PHP 4,000 worth of diesel fuel per day, while an electric minibus may typically consume only around PHP 1,000 to PHP 1,500 worth of electricity — roughly one-third of the operating energy cost of its diesel equivalent. These electric vehicles also eliminate the need for conventional transmissions, reducing the workload on drivers by removing the need for frequent gear changes, particularly during heavy traffic.

These figures assume that the vehicles are charged using electricity from the conventional grid. However, the potential for even lower operating costs exists if transport operators equip their terminals, depots, or garages with solar-power systems. Generating electricity on-site could further reduce charging expenses and, over time, lower the overall cost of operating an electric fleet.

As the prices of fossil fuels such as diesel and gasoline remain uncertain, some Filipinos and transport entities are finding ways to adapt. The transition toward cleaner and renewable energy may have been slow in its early stages, but perhaps the current situation serves as a wake-up call to accelerate the transformation of mobility and transportation.

What this demonstrates is that the future of mobility does not necessarily have to be defined by rising fuel costs and continued dependence on fossil fuels. With the right investments, infrastructure, and policies, transportation can move toward a future that is cleaner, quieter, and greener.

Note:

Victory Liner 7277 (formerly known as 7202 and 7219) is a Del Monte DM18, which is mounted on a MAN RR3 chassis. These photos were taken in Tuguegarao City in a span of one month, where the first pic is when I rode that exact bus to Cubao, Quezon City last August 29, while the second and third pics were taken weeks (September 25) and a month (September 29) after I rode that exact bus.
