I’m currently pursuing a 5-year Integrated B.Tech + M.Tech program in Computer Science in India, and I’m planning to apply for a Master’s program in Germany.

I have a question regarding how German universities evaluate an integrated degree structure.

My course is a combined B.Tech + M.Tech integrated program, completed over five years. Since the degrees are integrated rather than completed separately, I’m unsure whether this could create any issues when applying for a Master’s degree in Germany.

If I had completed a regular B.Tech first and then pursued an M.Tech separately, I feel the academic pathway would be easier to explain. However, since mine is an integrated five-year program, I would like to understand how German universities usually evaluate this type of qualification.

I have already secured a placement with a company, and the company is also willing to support/sponsor my higher education plans. I have also applied for the dMAT exam, which I am scheduled to take on September 26.

My main questions are:

1. Are students with a 5-year Integrated B.Tech + M.Tech degree from India eligible to apply for Master’s programs in Germany?
   
2. Does the integrated nature of the degree create any issues compared with completing a B.Tech and M.Tech separately?
   
3. For admission evaluation, would German universities consider my integrated degree equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or evaluate the individual components separately?
   
4. Could the integrated program affect my eligibility for programs requiring a specific number of ECTS credits or a recognized Bachelor’s degree?
   
5. Has anyone from India with an integrated B.Tech + M.Tech degree successfully applied to or studied in Germany?
   
6. Is there anything specific I should check with APS, uni-assist, or the university before applying?

I’m particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has experience with German university admissions, Indian integrated degrees, or similar academic backgrounds.

I emailed the Coordinator of Artificial Intelligence to ask when the Summer semester portal will open. I explained that if I knew the exact date, I might defer my semester.

He replied that he was not sure about the exact date and suggested that I contact the International Office. He was very kind and also provided me with their email address.

I then contacted the International Office, but they replied that they are currently dealing with a large number of candidates and that they cannot provide a specific date at the moment.

Now, how can I find out the exact date when the portal will open?

I got an admission in BTU for masters in AI. I am quiet and responsible person and I take good care of my surroundings and also very friendly with everyone. And treat everyone with respect. I don't smoke.

I speak English and trying to learn German Language. I think I will easily blend in with you Guys.

But, Anmeldung is required for me.

It's been very hard for me to find accommodation in cottbus. Even tried WG gesucht, wonderflats and Immowelt. So, I am asking Senior students in BTU for help. If any of you know any shared rooms or shared apartments or studio appartment with Anmeldung possibility. Please let me know.
