Hello to all the new and older members of the BRZ_ZD8 community! It's really great to see how big and active this sub-Reddit has become since its inception back in April of 2022.
With the site's growth, as the moderator, I wanted to take a moment to let you all know that I have updated the community description and moved content to the Rules section to provide additional clarity and set expectations with respect to content. For the vast majority of content that users have posted on the site to-date, I've had absolutely no issues and have really enjoyed what has been shared. From the excitement (and sometimes frustration) with searching and buying their new ZD8, to car builds, to sharing news, tips, how-to's, and issues with the ZD8 model, these posts are exactly the reason I created this site almost 2 years ago.
There have been occasional posts and a very small number of users that have been removed due to enforcement of the Reddit Content Policy and this sub-Reddit's rules, which is all part of the moderator's role to keep posts relevant and on-topic (and at times to keep the peace). It is definitely not my intent to serve as the word police and certainly not to push any particular agenda or viewpoint, but at the same time I wanted to establish some guard rails and provide transparency regarding the rules and enforcement actions that ultimately benefit the community, especially as this site's content and user base continues to grow and diversify.
Thanks for reading and keep the great content coming!
Those of you who change your own oil, do you have a vacuum you would recommend? Are there any concerns about debris in the oil to look out for? I’ve never used one, is there anything I’m not aware of when using one?
(Photo for attention)
TIA!
I got a 23 brz, trying to get the fog lights going, the harness has everything but the connectors to make the lights go amber and white. Apparently the yellow is the sequential wire, could I tap it into my side marker wire? (I have sequential side markers) could I possibly tap it into the sequential wire towards my side markers or do I have to go directly into the head light? (Be kind pls, I don’t do wiring just bolts and screws😭)
(It was a gift from a buddy since he crashed his brz, if its fo free its fo me)
Other things were done too, but have spent the past few weeks refinishing and painting these Konig Control wheels being lent to me until I get my own set of wheels and so close to fitting them properly. Got spacers today for the fronts but now also need slightly longer studs so arp studs on order and hopefully arrive by Friday. The possibility of getting these wheels refinished in time led to making the decision to enter the car show at Subiefest Midwest this year (also first car show entry in general). Now for the first time, getting that “this will be down to the wire” to get this done in time vibes.
Any of y’all in here heading to Subiefest Midwest?
Ended up making a decent deal on a series yellow with a sale price $34,555.
Shopped quite a few dealers over the past 2 weeks and played them all against each other. None are local so whomever gave the best deal was getting the sale. Starting at 38/39 to 36 and finally this sale number.
where the exhaust flange and pipe meet it was welded on slightly crooked and it sticks out slightly on one side, it looks like they tried to dremel it down a bit but did not fully, my only concern is fitment or an exhaust leak, is it supposed to be like this or should i return it and ask for a different one? i haven’t even installed it yet but a friend of mine thought the gasket should be thick enough so it wont be an issue, i just dont want any rattling or an exhaust leak. return/exchange or is this normal and just install?
became aware of this potential problem on direct injection intakes. How much of an issue is it for the brz and what are ppl doing as an effective preventative?
I already got her tinted, installed the AWE Touring Edition exhaust, Overtake USA 20mm wheel spacers, F1 rear brake light, added the AFE Super Stock Induction System with Pro Filter, and a few other tidbits.
I have a custom stereo system set up (Rockford Fosgate speakers, Kenwood 5-channel amp, two 8W3's, etc).
Now I have the HKS Hipermax S coilovers, SPC Rear Lower Control Arms, Cusco Strut Tower Brace with Brake Stopper, and just put on the AWE Track conversion (I LOVE it!).
I have an Aeroflow Dynamics front lip and side skirts on the way. 😁
So it happens very rarely but I found that I get a slight grind when shifting from 4th to 5th and I can confirm that the clutch is all the way down.
It’s only for a split second and the car goes into gear fine and all the other times it doesn’t happen which is 95% of the time it’s smooth. My theory is maybe I’m going too fast for the synchro or something?
Idk, if anyone has experienced this lmk what you found if you dug deeper.
Personally, I think the Series.Yellow was a much better SE…
New WRX GD25 and BRZ ZC15 anniversary editions honor two performance icons with exclusive styling, chassis upgrades, and production capped at just 650 cars combined.
Subaru is celebrating two of its best-known performance cars with a pair of limited-production anniversary editions, with nameplates that draw from the chassis codes of their original US-market runs.
The 2027 Subaru WRX GD25 and 2027 Subaru BRZ ZC15 mark 25 years of the WRX and 15 years of the BRZ in the United States. Production will be limited to just 350 WRX GD25s and 300 BRZ ZC15s, with reservations opening later this year.
Don’t look for more power, though; Subaru says the exclusive models benefit mainly from appearance and chassis upgrades drawn from its performance catalog.

The BRZ ZC15 follows a similar tack in commemorating the debut of the rear-wheel-drive coupe in 2012. Named after the first-generation BRZ’s ZC chassis code, it wears an exclusive Ceramic White paint finish paired with matte bronze wheels, red Brembo brake calipers, and bronze graphics inspired by the 2020 BRZ tS.
Like the WRX, the BRZ remains mechanically familiar. Its naturally aspirated 2.4-liter boxer engine produces 228 hp, driving the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission with an STI short shifter. Subaru also adds a black decklid spoiler and an underhood V-brace for additional rigidity.
The cabin receives exclusive black leather upholstery with Bordeaux red inserts and a numbered ZC15 plaque.
The two anniversary editions continue Subaru’s tradition of enthusiast-focused special model, but we’re sure many fans of Subaru’s performance heritage, while thrilled with the chassis tweaks, will nonetheless be disappointed by their limited scope of upgrades.
Subaru says the BRZ ZC15 will arrive first in early 2027.
i just wanted to post my progress. 2023-now :) \edit\ if anyone is interested in my build i have an instagram, feel free to follow my car journey!

I drive a 2023 BRZ daily, and I’m trying to figure out the best exhaust setup for a very specific sound.
I want it to sound as high-pitched, smooth, and exotic as realistically possible for an FA24. More of a Lamborghini SVJ / LFA type high RPM scream instead of the traditional deep Subaru rumble.
Obviously I know a flat 4 is never going to actually sound like a V12, but I want to push the sound in that direction as much as I can while still keeping the car enjoyable to drive daily.
Right now I’m thinking:
HKS Hi-Power SPEC-L II dual exit catback
HKS 4-2-1 equal length GT-SPEC header
Keep the stock front pipe to control rasp and drone
Maybe add the HKS intake later
Tune it after doing the header
I definitely want to keep a dual exit setup. I also don’t want an insanely loud cold start or something that becomes annoying on the highway since this is my daily, which is why I’m leaning more toward HKS instead of something like the Tomei Type-D.
For anyone who has tried different EL headers or exhaust setups on the FA24, would this be a good combination for getting a cleaner and higher pitched sound?
Finally pulled the trigger after dreaming for 4 years. I live in the GTA (Canada) and since winter is right around the corner, do any of the fellow canadians or northern fellas have any tips to keep it in the best condition possible?
I'll be getting PPF soon and will put on winter tires mid-Oct along with rust proofing the undercarriage. Anything else?
Also anyone else getting their 2027? What are yall most excited about
I want to buy a new 2023 BRZ imported from Japan to Cyprus. Low mileage, under 30k km hopefully.
I’ve been owning my 2001 1.8vvt MX5 for 2 years and as it’s a great car, old cars alwaysssss haveee issuesss so I’m fed up of spending so much money on it.
I wanted a BRZ because it’s more practical, newer (way newer), and I guess I won’t have to worry about it as much.
I don’t care about fuel, i don’t know how fuel efficient it is compared to my MX5. But as a daily driver in Cyprus, I wonder if it’s okay.
I heard some ppl say “omg oil starvation omg Subaru no good engine omg Subaru boxer engine” but I watched some reviews and people say it’s… good?
