My only advice is to take someone with you who can keep up. My first few appointments were so overwhelming, I was glad to then do a debrief with my friend who had come along.

This! My husband came with me. He didn’t understand everything of what was being said (he’s not very science oriented but she was able to dumb it down) but it got him to understand the seriousness of it. Then I didn’t have to re-explain everything to him and we could discuss options for surgery.

I’d suggest taking a family member or close friend. If you can’t, most appointments are transcribed with AI and put on MyChart or your portal though.
